AFAIK 4.2 AQX is interference engine so if there is a slip on timing, the pistons will hit the valves and most probably damage the valves, pistons and connecting rods and eventually the crankshaft. But if you know what you are doing, it should not exceed $3K to rebuild that engine depending on the damage.
