More of a crash bar than a bull-bar - designed to protect the Turbo Intercoolers from damage by animals on the highway, or in the outback. Custom made from steel, and very rigid - not available elsewhere.
No mods required to the car - it attaches to the towing eye lugs.
The park sensors are deactivated when in use.

It does look neat. Do you use the towing lugs or does it need longer bolts to attach it? Are you still able to use the towing points when the bar is fitted?

Thanks for the compliments. It uses a pair of towing eyes, and no - you can't use the towing eye when it's fitted, but wrapping a snatch strap around either of the mount points would do the job - the unit is incredibly rigid.
The description 'bull-bar' is a bit flattering really...........I've had a few serious 4WDers sneer at it, and that's OK - they like their vehicles to be set-up like a truck - whereas I like a plush ride, and an occasional trip outback warrants a little protection for the vulnerable front corners.
Cheers...

Hi Alan, It's a pity the towing eyes have an odd thread. (17mm lefty I think) I may still need mine to put on the rear to pull others out!
What stops them being used when the bar is mounted? Is the thread too short or does the bar restrict access to them?
Cheers
Greg.

To maximise strength, and eliminate having to modify the car in any way, the bar attaches into the hole in the towing-eye. The bar has a pair of sculpted blocks that nestle into the aperture in the towing eye for a perfect fit providing maximum load transfer through the (forged) towing-eye back to the chassis.
It is the most efficient and strongest way to do it. Yes - you cannot use a towing eye for the rear, but as I have a tow bar it was not a problem for me.
BTW - you need 2 towing eyes. I used to borrow one from a mate for my trips.......I'm too tight to buy a 2nd!! LOL
Cheers

Ahh, I see it now! I was wondering whether you could use a long bolt instead of the tow eye but it seems not. Anyway, I dont think sourcing one would be easy, given their almost unique size. Trust VW to make life difficult.
I did buy a second towing eye because I wanted to be able to spread the load of recovery. I haven't had to use them yet. It sounds like a very quick install-uninstal job if necessary. I also have a towbar for the rear.:)
