Hi, I am low on options, so I thought I would post this here.

I'm looking to hire someone (preferably someone who has had experience installing one of these) in the OC / LA area to install my wiring harness for the tow package. My treg didn't come with a tow package installed (ie, no harnesses pre-installed) and I've installed the hitch successfully, but the wiring harness is a bit more than I can tackle.

I've already checked with several local auto mechanics / repair shops and they have all passed on the job.. and the morons at UHaul don't instill me with a lot of confidence.

The site has an excellent how to video on the above page. It doesn't look that hard, so I'm thinking someone who's a bit more knowledgeable than I could probably do this job in an hour or two.

Rate is negotiable, but I'm sure we can come up with a figure that's worth your time.

thanks!

I've installed a couple of these on the touareg's that I've owned, it's fairly easy.
You can find a video on YouTube to help you if you decide to tackle it on your own.
Best of luck to you

There is a How To video on the e-trailer link you provided. If you have installed the trailer hitch yourself, you will have little problem installing the wiring. The only "hard" thing would be running power to the trailer wiring adapter, but that's it. They pulled power from the jump start post, but if you have 12V adapters in the rear compartment, you can pull power from them instead.

...That is a fascinating suggestion, this might be too much to ask, but would you be able to outline the steps on how I could do this?

I know the back has 2 cig lighter adapter and also a 2 prong plug. Would the two prong plug be the 12v adapter you're referring to?

That is a most generous offer. I take it you're not in So CA? Drat.

I hope so as well.. a lot of very knowledgeable folks are on these forums, and surely somebody has done this install before, and *might* live in the OC / LA / SD areas that would be up to giving me a hand with it. :)

The 2 prong plug you're talking about is probably your 120V outlet. NO, you do NOT want to tap into that!!! In all newer cars, stay away from ORANGE wires!!! Those are high voltage!

As already mentioned, yes, it sounds like you should have someone else install this! :- )

I'm nowhere near So Cal, sorry.

Unfortunately I'm on the other side of the country.
Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, where one day it's 75° and the next it's snowing...lol

I've always said that there are no dumb people, everyone is good at something.
What I might be good at you may not be, what you are good at I'm probably not good at or may know nothing about.
