Hi all,

I Live in Canada and it gets pretty darn cold here sometimes. For the most part the Touareg is in my heated garage but occasionally its left outside in the winter over night. When it gets extremely cold outside (-25 or -30) the battery gets weak and the doors will not unlock. Not even the plastic key from the FOB in the door will open it. But it will allow me to open the trunk. I then crawl through the truck and hit the unlock button on the inside of the backseat door.

Now I have read on this forum that when the touareg's battery gets low it will protect itself from using unnecessary energy by allowing only the driver side door to open with the FOB. But mine won't even do that. Do you know of a setting I could change using the VCDS the would allow my drivers side door to open when the battery is low.

Thanks

Is your Fob set to open the drivers door only on the first press or all four doors? If you have it set to all four doors, I would try setting it to the driver door only. Should be able to set off the vehicle options display.

I think you have your own solution: get a new battery! If your battery is too weak to unlock your doors, you're going to have a lot more problems in the near future.
