2013 Touareg TDI 3.0 CNRB (CNRA) engine code.
My treg bit the dust on the highway over the summer and wouldn't restart. I towed to shop, they said probably HPFP failure, wanted $1,500 just to check it. I pulled the intake and the metering valve was clean! Very very little metallic in the fuel filter housing. The pump physicall did not look ruined. I wasn't sure what to do. Fastforward, I sourced a "running" engine for the same price that doing a HPFP replacement on my leaking, very dirty engine. Installed new engine with new seals and everything....
Heres what I did:
Primed pump with VCDS.
Crack fuel rail lines while priming.
VCDS shows no engine codes.
Reprogrammed new injectors with VCDS. Any way to confirm this?
VCDS has fuel pressure at 7500hpa with intank pump.
While cranking it gets to 10000hpa .... will not start. (this is like 180psi or something way low)
Engine starts with starter fluid.
Questions:
A bad injector not allowing the fuel rail to pressurize? how to check?
A bad metering valve on the HPFP?
Bad pressure regulator?
Bad HPFP?
Since the original pump looked OK and the engine died and would not start, could this be a computer problem?
I'm at a loss. This was supposedly a running engine. I have primed and primed and primed. All wiring is hooked up correctly. I am starting to think it's something upstream of the engine? I really don't want to go back into the metering valve and pull the intake etc.
Please please please help!!
