Just bought a VCDS scanner because my HVAC system went out. Ran a scan and pulled the following. At the moment, I am really only interested in clearing the HVAC codes and will get to the others eventually. I was wondering if anyone could help point me in the right direction on deciphering them. From what I've found here is that its likely the HVAC blower that needs replacing. Any input is appreciated.

Make sure the electrical system is working 100%, good alternator output and a full capacity fully charged battery. Then look at the motor & the wiring to it. Clear the codes and see what comes back.

1st, clear them and see if they return. Sometimes they return, sometimes its all good.

..and i think your battery is close to dead. This can trigger all the above problems.
Do you mean clear them in the open controller window? I did clear them for the HVAC controller, rescanned, and this is what came back. I wasn't sure I was doing it correctly since none of the original codes came back. If this is the correct way of doing it, I will clear the engine codes and rescan.

Do you recommend buying a new battery, or charging it? Clearing the codes as in clearing it through the open controller window, right?

Sometimes VWs throw a lot of "fake" codes just because battery is done. First charge it, test it, then decide if you need a new one.
Some trouble codes dont come alone, they trigger other codes in different modules also. In general, if an error returns you need to adress it, if not..its all good.

If your battery is over 6 years then replace it or put in on charge overnight & test it first for 12.5v or more. Start with the easy things first. Clear the codes in VCDS top of my head it says erase all DTC`s . Then scan again. You may still have a fault but no point having several red herrings there to fool you.

I charged the battery overnight, cleared the DTCs, and rescanned. Only one code came back:

Blower motor imho but I would locate it and see if the brushes are gunked up or worn ot and check for power. Don't rush into buying a new one. Where is it located? No idea but guessing down behind the glovebox area, take the glovebox out job.

I think the speed controller is part of the motor and not just a resister but a electronic SCR type. I will try & find the part number.

My brain is saying why no blower motor fault code?? Does the HVAC controls all work, light up as normal temp display change etc?? Show the blower speed? Just a thought but take it out & reseat the plugs maybe a bit of contact cleaner.

Yep, everything works as it should, just nothing blowing. It is located behind the glove box. I will try removing it and taking a look at everything.

Search Youtube for videos on changing the blower motor. There was one video I found that was helpful but it didn't allow for anyone to post a link to another site.
You should not have to remove your glove box. I think some people have change it out in under an hour.
