I noticed we don't really have a build thread or a V10 specific area on this site. I know others out there have done things like straight pipe exhaust (minus the front cats). Many others have done a mild tune. Others have done a DPF delete (I don't have those). Others over seas have done water/methanol injection.

Looks like I will be the test bed for many new things on the Treg and I'm here to document it the best I can. For some of the firsts on a v10 and how they react all together.

New upgraded turbos
True straight exhaust
Modified camshafts
Larger injector nozzles.

Here is a thread I started in TDI Club. They have many more knowledgeable members over there and I hope to get this right the first time as I won't be able to afford or justify it later. As i can attest I pretty much have to have the engine out to do many of the things I want to do.

We will see how it all goes and hope others can follow suite.

Wow - that's a mix and a half.

Yes, please start a new thread [ EVIL DIESEL MIX? ].

That should bring some interesting comments out of the www!!

ya Ive been keeping it low key for that exact reason. the last time I "helped" someone learn about it, I ended up having to buy it from my free source. cuz he told someone and that guy told someone and the world gets awefully small when that happens.

it actually ends up about $1 a gallon now so thats a long ways from free, after I mod the vehicle of course, which has been anywhere from $1000 to about 1800 for my Treg conversion. I drive about 30,000 a year so the ROI is good.

Ill put something together when I get the conversion working nice on the Treg. I have a long way to go, and i found out my Ford has excessive blowby (200,000 miles) so i need to get that fixed first, i may be joining a Ford-Cummins forum next...

Hey addicted... any regrets on your decision to get bigger turbos? Still working out bugs?
Im headlong into my do-it-at-home engine R&R and will be ordering turbos when I can see em.
Thx

I've got a 2006 V10 . I purchased it as a lease return when it was 2 years old with 30k miles on it. Early on i heard about turbo failures and gunked up intakes due to the design flaw of dumping raw fuel into the Diesel particulate filter to burn off the accumulated soot. So with very few mies on the car I pulled the 2 diesel particulate filters off the truck, cut the tops off and gutted them. Re welded the tops and reinstalled the dpf's. Had custom spooling create a chip flash that deleted the diesel regen cycle from happening. With the o2 sensors intact and the dpf's in place the vehicle passes smog and doesn't throw any codes. The tuning also increased the hp/torque to the R50 specs. It has just over 100k trouble free miles on it The only other thing i've had to do is the drive shaft. I also have a G wagon and a supercharged 4runner. I only mention this because the Touareg is still my favorite. Unbelievable refined, incredibly powerful, and gets 18mpg compared to the the other 2 which get 12&14 respectively. Recently ive thought of a Snow methanol injection https://www.snowperformance.eu/en/w...mance.eu/en/water-injection/boost-cooler/vw-touareg-7l-5-0-v10-tdi-230-kw-16820 system, has anyone else done this?
