I priced out the factory air suspension for a Touareg and it came to 2200.00 plus labor and misc. parts . I can only guess it would cost about 1500.00 labor to install. Or about a day and a half labor. So I guess the question would be is it worth around 4000.00 to have adjustable air ride and would it be smother on the hwy. Also has anyone looked into this.

There's more to this than just fitting new parts.

What about the VCDS programming that goes with air?

I highly doubt it is gonna be that easy to install after the fact. I'm sure that you don't have the modules and such that go with it or ther programming needed to run it as well. I goes way beyond just struts, compressor and a switch. Sensors, wiring, modules, programming.... ect...

I don't know anything about a Tahoe, but it has selectable heights as well as auto leveling sensors along with dampening control as well. So it is just not air shocks.

The air suspension has multiple modes and each mode has its own way of dealing with Differentials as well in when ASC has to step in. A lot of sensors are also needed. You may be better off installing a 3rd party air-suspension product with its own independent controls altogether.

I agree with the earlier comments. It would be far easier and far less expensive to have a custom job done. I'm sure air ride technologies sell some bags that could be put on a custom strut assembly for far less than installing the factory set-up and then having to deal with getting the correct electronics worked out.

I think something like this could be adapted to be similar to the stock treg setup

After trying to figure out how to replace melted air lines on my 06. I can with out a doubt tell you retro fitting would suck! I'd rather cut my hand off. Especially after you tear apart your car and see how crappy the system is.

Well I wouldn't put the Touareg under the best category, but at least you don't have to remove the intake manifold to do the spark plugs.
