Hi all,

I have noticed that my Touareg has been greeting worse and worse gas mileage over the past couple of weeks. I have 265/55/18 hankook dynapros on it that I put on like 3 months ago. I noticed a little loss of gas mileage which was expected but I have been driving back and forth from north jersey to lancaster pa and am only seeing 16.1 avg over 150 miles and I'm very light on the gas. I only run 93 and keep the speed between 60-85 mostly 72-78. I used to see like 17.2-18.1 but its so low lately. Is there something I should have checked out?
Thanks in advance

Buy your fuel elsewhere, where it's not oxygenated or cut with 10% ethanol, or winter blend. Otherwise, it's perfectly normal, the loss. It will get better after April 1st, 2013, the fuel, that is, and your MPG.

Check your intake actuator control arms to see if they are broken.

Search the site for lots of info on this issue.

X2, this came to mind as well, and no offense to the OP but 1 mpg less is hardly a cause for concern, also now that it is winter with winter grade fuels, a 1 mpg difference is getting it easy, many see as much as 3-5 mpg less.
Maybe it is just the winter fuel. Last year I didn't see this kind of loss but who knows. I'm seeing about a 1.5 MPG loss. I am running the tank I'm on now low and gonna fill up with 100% gas with no ethanol. Thank you all so much for your help. Very much appreciated.

I'm about on par with that. Denver driving is lots of stop and go. When I'm driving in the mountains I can get 16-18 mpg tanks, but back and forth Denver to the mountains I average around 15. 12-14 on the way there, better on the way back down. IN denver, looking at 10 to the high side of 11.
That's true, I never took stop and go traffic into the equation, we definitely get trafficky between 4 and 6, luckily I don't have to drive during that time, I was getting 14.5 mpg's give or take .5 mpg for the slight speedo reading being off in my V6 but I had to baby it, not babying it and I got around 12, im fine with that though, the safety and capability are what I like about it

I'll check the tire pressures later today but I think I already have it at about 2-4psi over. Would the 265 vs 255 tires I had before make that much of a difference?
Yeah double check pressure and I doubt that small of a tire change will make a difference but you never know, sometimes certain tire brands weigh a lot more than others. Also tread pattern could effect it as well, I think this is a combo of different tires and poorer grade winter fuel causing your problem.

LOL at NU-WAY... on a sidenote, we had (maybe still have) a pizza store here called NU-WAY pizza lol
