I have a 2004 6cyl Touareg and the engine warning light has come on. The dealer checked the system and cleared the warning light informing me that the thermostat was malfunctioning. If it was to happen again the thermostat would need replacing. The replacement apparently requires the drive train be dropped costing approx $2100.
Are there any reported incidents of this type of malfunction? Could it be something else?
I'd prefer to spend the money elsewhere. If anyone can provide me with advise I'd be grateful.
Truly,
Perry
