VW Touareg 2006 2.5 TDI
Having removed the plastic engine under tray I'm uncertain which is the engine oil drain plug.
Can anyone help?

In this video he gets to the plug at the 3:20 mark and you can see where its located and what it looks like.


It's a 19 mm bolt - use the right wrench or socket, take your time, replace the crush washer with a new one, and BE CAREFULL NOT TO CROSS THREAD WHEN REPLACING!

I've not been under a 2.5, but on the V10 at least and every other VW I've been under there a simple rule to follow: The engine oil drain plug is a normal bolt which you remove with a normal female socket. The transmission, differential, transfer case, etc use some male tool to remove the plug like a hex key or torx socket.

As I have said elsewhere it is ESSENTIAL you know the correct oil to use.

Could not agree more. Sub standard oils will destroy a PD Vw motor!
