How about the tire filler hose that always seems to be missing from used Touaregs? It always seems way too expensive when you can just buy a 12v compressor but it irks me that my Treggie is missing an original bit of kit.

Chris, check on Ebay. That is where I picked up my spare Canyon for my 04 which I am still going to use on the TDI. It will get me off the mountain, I don't care about looks during that situation.

 

Yeah, I've been searching the forum classifieds, ebay, and online salvage inventories. But no luck.

Leaning toward getting a hitch-mount tire carrier (e.g. hitchgate). So carrying a canyon on the back would look kinda lame.

Just need to line one up before I do an extended tow or offroad trip. (Can you say CO rally?)

 

I looked at getting the hitch mounted spare and it was too expensive for me. I just throw it in the back for going to the Rally. It has worked well there and does not move around or anything. I even thought of getting a spare wheel mount for my Yakima rack, but having the wheel on the roof kills mileage. I am content with it in the back for now.

 

Not to thread jack, but with 2 kids & a lab, cargo space is tight on trips. And I'm counting on putting a box on the roof for boards & other gear.

I'll see how it fits in back, but suspect a hitch carrier will eventually be needed. The hitchgate seems pricey to me too, but looks engineered to be left on 24/7.
