I am coming here to see if I can get help from my cousins/brothers/sisters.

Troubleshooting my wife's 2015 Audi q7 TDI. Has a "Stage 1.5" Malone tune since we bought it in late 2018. I got Yrtreg's TCM flash when he came up to Toronto, Canada many moons ago.

Had intermittent check engine lights for the past few yrs. Usually NOX sensor 2 intermittent/implausible signals. Last night she got a 350km to no restart warning. 1st time this has happened.

I just recently successfully replaced an Adblue transfer pump which pumps adblue up from the reservoir tank to the main tank. (Twice it was giving 1500km to empty warnings , and when I would go fill up the tank, it would only take 1-2 gallons (it's about a 5+ gallon system) Anyways new pump is in and working. Not sure if Toureg's have 2 tanks for adblue or not.

Apparently the 350km to no restart means that there is something wrong with the Adblue system. The q7's PCM is a little confused. It said something about Sensor 1 not being plausible.

I logged the readings from both Nox Sensor 1 and 2;

is there any way that Nox 2 can be higher than the pre cat Nox1? I still think I have a problem with Nox2, and have ordered a cheap aftermarket one from Amazon. Reviewing the logging, sometimes my NOX2 sensor gives readings that are higher than NOX1; sometimes it's zero, a couple times I saw -100 ppm logged.

I cleared the 350km warning by clearing the engine codes.

I graphed the log file in Openoffice... Blue is the Nox1, red is Nox 2.... Took it on a 5 minute testdrive.

So what is it that your cousin's sister's brother is confused about? You are showing some intermittent codes and some confirmed codes, from different Odo readings. I wouldn't probably trust some cheap Amazon sensor.

Are they experiencing limp mode or what's the rest of the story and the rest of the Autoscan that you're omitting? Clogged DPF yet?

no limp mode.

I do not know if the DPF is clogged.... I haven't checked the pressures yet, or have a good idea what a known good number would be.

I'm trying to figure out if the NOX2 sensor is bad, and if the readings in the above graph are legit or not... I would suspect the red line to be far lower than the blue line for NOX readings, but it is not the case.... the line also looks rounder than the peaky blue line...

(I am assuming that the blue line is accurate).

Check your Ad Blue injector to see if it is clogged...

That will cause the SCR efficiency low code and the countdown.

I'm trying to decipher all the partial information\codes you've posted, and struggling.
Please supply a full Autoscan (current).
As per prior mention, I see "intermittent" codes (these you can basically ignore as they are almost anomalies) but I also see different odometer readings, and some of the differences are significant (194k vs 203k)

I've been "monitoring" a similar NOx intermittent code for a while on my fully stock '14 here

Higher Nox concentration at sensor 2 is probably because the sensor is not fully warmed up. Cold sensors don't read accurate.
Or it could be something like this....

I've changed about 80 Nox sensors in my mechanical career and 99% of them give flaky readings when they fail. One the interface module just took a dump.

You'll need to complete a driving Nox regen before those codes will clear with VCDS.

Wow. lots of replies.

I reset the adblue level when I changed the adblue transfer pump as there was not any CEL's as I recall... I ran the pump for about 4 cycles of 30 seconds, and then I topped up the adblue to get the adblue warning to go away.

The current odo reading is 203XXX km.

I'm going to put the q7 on the lift and work at removing the adblue injector and seeing if it's clogged.

You've replaced the transfer pump and reset the adblue system.
I've asked if you performed the required reset to the dosing system in #10 which is not OPTIONAL if any work has been done on the adblue system, and qualified why by showing you the repeated out of spec readings in #12.

Your move.

I was not aware that the transfer pump affected the dosing

I will look at resetting the adblue dosing after I take a look at the injector.

I will need to find instructions on how to do it with vcds.

Here you go
To perform the resets:
Select Engine-01
Select Basic Settings
Select [*IDE03402*] Resetting learning values for reduction agent metering system from the pull-down menu.
Press Go!, you should get the message Finished correctly


Check the [Long-term adaptation of reduction agent dosage] in the Advanced Measuring Values to verify the value has changed to [1.00].

Like the Generation 1 TDI engines, it is very important to test drive the vehicle after the repair and reset procedures for at least 40 to 50 miles at normal speed limits on the highway. This test drive will ensure that the AdBlue is actually being consumed by the system. Short traffic road tests will not work, since typically no AdBlue will be used and thus system cannot learn correctly.

Last step, after the extended road test is to check for fault codes and verify the [Long-term adaptation of reduction agent dosage] in the Advanced Measuring Values has the typical range of [0.90 to 1.10], any more or less will eventually set a fault code.
