My 2006 V6 3.0l Touareg has a damaged main driveshaft support which needs replacing. The US has a "Vertex" solution which enables its replacement without the need to remove the driveshaft but I can't find anything similar available in the UK. Is anyone aware of anything similar available in the UK. Also how much would a garage charge for a support mount change including driveshaft removal/refitting etc. thanks in advance.

check out "Carden shaft jimi fix" on the Rennlist site. I used this fix and it has been working perfectly for several thousand km's..... Just google "carden shaft jimi fix, should come right up...

You can buy the Viagra fix from a guy in Germany for about 70 quid and it works just as well and takes less than 30 minutes to fit.

I've just replaced mine for the second time (360,000Km) bought the bearing from eBay in the UK £18 with free postage within UK and had it posted out to Bulgaria and fitted in less than an hour for £8, bought another to have as a spare, this is the second one fitted here, first one fitted in a tiny local tractor garage, again around an hour, guys said dead easy to do
I love my vertex mount, I don't think the zip tied one would stay forever, as the zip ties get old and brittle.. I guess an inspection every oil change would ensure at least they are all there so it wouldn't fall out..
The vertex is simple, easy to install, very sturdy. I notice a small vibration around 35 but that's it, and to be expected with anything stiffer than stock, if that's my problem at all.
They just lowered their price point and will continue to as other options become more relevant and available and demand drops. But as for the best/easiest options, vertex, or new drive shaft, in that order. And they are about the same price for a quality drive shaft.
