Does anyone have one of these electrically swivellable tow bar on their Touareg? I know many of us have the adjustable up and down control of the trailer hitch (and everything else!) but this is a new one to me! I'd love to see pics!!

TIA

We get an electrically deployable factory-fit towbar as an option in Europe, mine has one, so just press a switch in the boot and it drops down but needs a push to lock in position - to stow just press the switch again to release the lock and then push up into stowed position - so not fully electric but one or two other brands have that.

The swivel is at 45 degrees to the lateral and longitudinal axes of the car - so drops down, forwards and gets vertical when deployed.

It has a major design fault - the stowed area gets all the road spray and salt so the ball corrodes - if the ball is covered, the water then gets inside the cover and can't get out, causing more corrosion.

My '04 T1 has a detachable hook, and a separate cover to close the bumper up.

Is there no cover for the pivotal hook?

No cover on the T2 either. At least not for the R-line body.
