Good afternoon from Punta Cana. I bit the bullet last week and purchased a 2011 Touareg 3.0TDi. I keep reading about adding DEF and all videos and discussions point to a location under the spare tire. I have nothing but a trunk floor under the tire. I checked under the jack and other areas to no avail. No flaps or plugs of any type.
Do all Tregs have this feature?

I should add that the one I bought is in KM's, not miles, and thus is not an American model.

Any help is appreciated.
Cheers,
Mike

It's stamped on the engine block regardless of what country you're in. It's also on the PR code sticker that's in your owner's manual and/or trunk spare tire area.
Another too complicated reply including nerd out vin the engine code and what ever the scan says. Even the dude has no idea in DR, if it's even real, as very good English.
I posted a picture of a def tank model, informed Op If you are on an island your emmission is unlikely. Especially if there is no actual fill hole......;) end of quote

I think the first clue would have been to ask if there is a pig piss plant nearby and a 2.5 gallon ad blue at every gas station by the dozen, or at the rare parts store pilled up in the front by the dozen.. My guess, DR.. prolly doesn't have a 4 wheel emmisions station.. I could be wrong. But let's ride this one out for a day and see.

Tregs normally had the filler in the boot but I believe some models had it under the flap next to the fuel filler. Many markets did not have DEF until 2015 or later, so you may not have it, you need to research the PR numbers which detail the build options for your specific car. If you dont have them then a dealer can look them up from the VIN

Only one vw dealer in DR. I was surprised.

Emissions Station???

What is this thing you call an Emissions Station??? LOLOL
Some of the trucks here can turn daytime into night, with one push of the accelerator!

Yeah, a bit of a monopoly They are about a 2 hour drive away. Looking at some independents as well that might be easier for my access. There are a ton of diesel everything on the roads here.
A quick google search... lol.. ya no auto emmisions regulations, but you can't import a car more than five years with out piles of paperwork. But there is an autozone, bet they don't even stock adblue haha

Here in the states anywhere a metro, the 4 wheel dyno emmision station does the test to see if you pass the regs of the day to drive for 25 usd. But a deisel...is a tested with semis and about 80usd. I tiny shop vs a state center. But that's the ways she goes..if you want a plate to drive.. some state have inspections ever 2 years for safety over rusted out cars and trucks as the north side loves to salt winters.

We have to pay 500 to a 1k to just deleate a def and if near a metro. Fingers crossed it passed emmisions where I live. An engine light on is a fail
Enjoy the freedom and order an egr and the code goes away. ;) tho where you live.. who cares.. drive it... it's not that big of a deal

I used to tell my vw clients, repeat after me when they called in for an engine light.. is it flashing yellow? No, flashing red? No. Say it with me.. "OOOH that's pretty!" Call me when it's important.

Do you guys have the diesel Nissan XTerra there? I'm pretty jealous of those.

Despite actually being a long-term VW and TDI fan, I only happened upon my Touareg because there is basically no other viable option in the USA for a diesel 4x4 that isn't a full sized truck. Like most people, I had initially assumed the Touareg was car-based and not offroad capable. I previously had an 80s Isuzu Trooper turbo diesel, but it was so underpowered it could not safely do freeway speeds. I drove the Jeep Grand Cherokee WK with a MB diesel, and it also basically couldn't be driven on the freeway- it was built with the wrong gearing. The Jeep WK2 seemed better, but much lower quality than a Touareg at 2-3x the price used. That's all of them we got- except maybe a 1970s Scout diesel, which also can't do freeway speeds, and is rare enough to be worth a fortune. And then there's like 10 rusted out grey market import diesel G wagens in the USA that go for the price of a decent single family home.

There is no reason to be jealous of a diesel xterra, that 2.5 is a piece of crap.
I have never heard of the 2.5, but all over latin america there are diesel Xterras with a International/MWM 2.8L diesel- that entire engine isn't sold in anything in the USA, but from what I've heard they're pretty good.

Hey Mike, I have a 2010 3.0 TDI and yes I have a DEF tank under the spare tire and jack compartment. There is a rubber plug in the trunk floor about the size of a baseball. under the plug is where my DEF fill is. Its the dumbest area I can think of to put it, but that's what they did. FYI, I am in Utah in the States and my vehicle was originally new in the States, so not sure if that makes a difference or not.
