Gone into limp mode perhaps, any lights, messages on the dash?
How many KMs? How do you know it's the dpf?
If you already have reached the last stage ie take it to a workshop message then you will need to get a forced regen by the dealer and they will tell you the ash loading, if too high then you can get it split open/ cleaned by some dpf specialists.
But that shouldn't be the case for a 2015 I would think, unless you have been doing lot of short trips over the years

I was wondering if anyone one else has had the diesel particulate filter become faulty in a 2015 model TDI . Could you please tell me what was the outcome.

Never heard of dpf's being faulty as such, the only reason it will go into limp mode (assuming that's what you are experiencing) is when it hasn't been given a chance to regenerate.
You normally would get a message before that.
How far is the dealer?
From what I think all it needs is a forced regen now

Thanks Singh. We've just had a diagnosis done and the mechanic reckons that the DPF needs to be replaced. We're not convinced - so we're taking it in to the VW dealer next week to get a forced regen done first to see if that sorts it out.

We do regular long distance trips as well as the local short distance runs, so am not sure why the DPF would get clogged so quickly.

Did the mechanic run a scan , get a readout of the ash levels, otherwise a regen will sort it out.

We were going to take it for a run with the revs over 2500 for about 40 minutes to see if that helps. Our main concern is that it doesn't have enough power to go up any hills at the moment and all the long stretches of road around us have some level of hilliness. But am going to give that a go this weekend.

Too late for that, when that light for dpf comes up don't turn the engine off but instead go for a hard run to clear it off.
If you turn off the engine then it will likely go into limp mode and forced regen is the only way...
