Greetings! Curious on what's commonly being used or recommended for additive in the fuel or oil to help combat the carbon buildup in VW diesels, v10tdi specifically. Thanks!!

I am not aware of any additive for fuel or oil that helps prevent the oily carbon build up in the intake. The only thing I am aware of is the addtion of catch cans to minimise the oil that gets into the intake from the PCV system. This then limits the build up of the carbon / oil crud
Yes EGR delete and PCV vent direct to atmosphere in combination will stop the carbon / oil build up in the intake but they are illegal in most parts of the world even if inspections are not done to detect them routinely.
Very true, so far so good though! I have an 06 that just turned over 123k. Purchased it with 88k a few years ago and all that been mechanically is the alternator. Definitely over engineered and underpowered but pretty unique vehicle.
The fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber. No fuel additive in the world can help with carbon on the back of valves, or garbage in the intake, as it doesn't touch either of these things.
For the same reason the oil in the intake charge builds up on the back of the valves and inlet.
