2004 T1 V8.
For several months, I have been getting the ACTUNG! WARNING!! BRAKE ASSIST FAILURE! WORKSHOP! SCHNELL! SCHNELL! with the lovely graphic on the MID and a traction control warning light. This happened on shifting during hard acceleration, like pulling onto a freeway. I understand, when this happens the traction control system is turned off automatically.
I had the code read at the shop and they told me it was a P1479 error, that the brake electric pump was faulty. They tested the pump and found "intermittent fault with brake pump" and to "replace pump and all hoses". No problems braking and we have LOTS of hills here including fast rush hour traffic--downhill! Lots of rear-enders esp when wet. Its often wet here.
I replaced the first vacuum line with the check valve that comes off the pump, and still got the errer. I tested the vacuum coming off the pump. I attached my vacuum gage to the pump, and turned on the engine. After a second or so, the vacuum jumped right up to 25", then after a second it went back to zero. Is this normal? No difference when pushing the gas pedal to rev the engine and holding my food on the brake, or just one or the other. Or am I looking at a new pump?
BTW, I dont have a vag-com.
