The right hand DRL has partially failed on my 2015 treg.
Center part is working, the bottom edge is not.
Rang a dealer today and was told the LED not a replaceable item, so fix is a complete headlight $1400.
Seems odd that the LED has failed inside 4 years but insane that the 'fix' is complete assembly replacement.
are you able to post a picture? do you have the individual LED's? surprising that its failed already. Perhaps the best way would be to get another headlight off a wrecker/ebay...plenty around.
much cheaper too.

See photos attached Singh, as far as I can tell the 'lower bar' must be a separate LED to the U shaped bar.
I will try my local dealer now that I'm back home.
Thats the same type of headlight on mine. And i have now seen few Touaregs around town that have the lower led bar out on one side.
Seems like a common problem, it seems to have a short life.
In fact i was looking for a way to turn the lower bar off, i think i like the look with just the top part.
Do you get an error in the mfi? Or have uou run a scan, can you share the error?
And keep us posted on the fix please

Too many failing, something not quite right here. I haven’t seen even a single case where the upper one has failed.
I am expecting this to happen at some point, and would be keen to know if the lower can be turned off somehow

So, I have joined the club. The right hand light lower "eyelash" is not working. New headlight is around 650 USD, Hella substitute is a bit cheaper <img src="http://www.clubtouareg.com/forums/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Sad" class="inlineimg" /> My classmate recently replaced his Treg light because of the same problem. Seems it is quite a common issue. Volksficken.
Sorry to hear that, seems most of us will face this issue in time.
Are you able to share a scan result? I’d like to figure out how it can be turned off altogether

No probs at all Njord.

Actually today i saw a touareg pass me by which had both lashes out. I would think this person doesn’t like the eyelashes and somehow has managed to turn them off!

Now only if i run into him again and I could then ask how!

Agree, the led failing in such a short span is an issue.
One can turn off the annoying warning to start off with by using vcds and also turn off the other led and have fogs or headlights as drl. This of course doesn’t fix the issue.

I wouldn’t pay that much either to replace, so getting hands on a used one from a wrecker/car yard is the way to go

Same issue with my 2015 TDI where the lower LED bar went out in year three and I had to replace the $863 light assembly plus labor. A year later and the same thing has happened to the other headlamp.
Has anyone come up with answer on turning off the lower lamp on the headlight that is still operable in order to give the front-end a balanced look?
Havent spent time on this to figure it out bit will eventually have to.
Saw a touareg locally with both of the lower ones ‘turned off’ i believe, so there must be a way

Is this to try and fix the eye lash led fail?
If so, from what I know it's the actual led that fails nothing to do with the module

In 09 you can change settings to have fogs, headlights, park lights or the LEDs in the headlight to be DRL.
Similarly you can switch on rear lights as DRL as well
But what I haven't figured is how to switch off the lower leds in the headlight when the other one fails.
There's gotta be a way, given the lower fails and the upper keeps working

I have the same issue with my 2015 Touareg Tdi. There is no error indication though for faulty lamp, should there be one or could it have been disabled?
No, it doesn't throw an error on the mfi, probably due to the U part still working.
There appears to be a way to disconnect the eyelash, not that I know how to yet, but I say that from seeing some Touaregs with both lower eyelashes out, probably unlikely that both have died.

Hi Victor Blizzard,

Same deal here with RHS DRL dead on V8 R-Line 11/2014 build date.
Was going to contact VW Australia but seems like you haven't had much luck, let me know if you get any resolution.

I have disabled the LHS DRL via the VAG-COM software to bring the option on the MFI but it still comes on at night when you switch the head lights on, want to disable it completely as it looks stupid.
Will have to figure this out to remove the eyelashes

I havent had the issue myself yet but going by the reports worldwide wouldnt be surprised if i too was impacted. as for the years and which models have been impacted I believe its from 2015 onwards on 7P. Pre 2015 it was a different headlight, any reporting issues with that?

hey Singh, I can do a scan for you. Is there a specific module you need?
Great. To clarify, one of your eyelashes is blown right?
If you could do a complete scan pls, else 09, 55, 17,19, 46 and 5f

RHS on RH drive: Not fully blown, (very) weak and yellow as others have described. Do you still want a scan?
Pls do

actually just share the measuring values of 09 and 55, use the security code that pops up under security access. output can be csv.
You will find this option under applications - Controller channel map. use the module number ie 09, then access code eg 20113, check measuring values and adaptations. select csv as output.

Ok, I too have joined the led fail club.
The drivers side eye lash comes on but at about 10% brightness. Kinda similar to whats shown in pics posted by others.
Time for a claim...
