The right hand DRL has partially failed on my 2015 treg.
Center part is working, the bottom edge is not.
Rang a dealer today and was told the LED not a replaceable item, so fix is a complete headlight $1400.
Seems odd that the LED has failed inside 4 years but insane that the 'fix' is complete assembly replacement.

are you able to post a picture? do you have the individual LED's? surprising that its failed already. Perhaps the best way would be to get another headlight off a wrecker/ebay...plenty around.
much cheaper too.

See photos attached Singh, as far as I can tell the 'lower bar' must be a separate LED to the U shaped bar.
I will try my local dealer now that I'm back home.

I really find it hard to believe that you can't replace just the LED. That's ridiculous that you have to replace the whole light.

If the LED section is replaceable then that would mean opening up the assembly. Wouldn't that then leave it susceptible to condensation forming internally?

Might be an idea to check Ebay as I see they have whole assy's for sale for different year Tregs. I wonder if your year is listed.

Thats the same type of headlight on mine. And i have now seen few Touaregs around town that have the lower led bar out on one side.
Seems like a common problem, it seems to have a short life.
In fact i was looking for a way to turn the lower bar off, i think i like the look with just the top part.
Do you get an error in the mfi? Or have uou run a scan, can you share the error?
And keep us posted on the fix please

I have the exact same issue just occurred in the last month Drivers side bottom LED stopped working..... I am going to purchase a scan gauge to test it..... I also would be happy to turn the bottom left LED off...this is still working.

Too many failing, something not quite right here. I haven’t seen even a single case where the upper one has failed.
I am expecting this to happen at some point, and would be keen to know if the lower can be turned off somehow

So, I have joined the club. The right hand light lower "eyelash" is not working. New headlight is around 650 USD, Hella substitute is a bit cheaper :-( My classmate recently replaced his Treg light because of the same problem. Seems it is quite a common issue. Volksficken.

Sorry to hear that, seems most of us will face this issue in time.
Are you able to share a scan result? I’d like to figure out how it can be turned off altogether

Singh, wait for a while. I have ordered VAS5054A. Have never used any scanner myself, maybe your help will be required :) Also, I have to study how to emulate Windows XP.

No probs at all Njord.

Actually today i saw a touareg pass me by which had both lashes out. I would think this person doesn’t like the eyelashes and somehow has managed to turn them off!

Now only if i run into him again and I could then ask how!

I just bought a 2015 Touareg from a dealer. Upon inspection, they noticed the LED DRL was out on one side and promised to order the part to fix it. I have it in writing. Since it's their cost, they will likely do it as economically as possible. Will see if it is an entirely new headlight or some other means to repair. Sorry to hear this is a common and expensive repair.

I had exactly the same issue just out of warranty, however I convinced the dealer to replace the whole headlight free of charge, which was kind of them, but agree with everyone’s comments they should be failing so soon. The LED’s should far outlive any incandescent light on the car. The dealer was a bit surprised the whole headlight assembly had to be replaced too!

Hi All, I've also had the DRL on the drivers side headlamp fail, after discussing it with Castle Hill VW Service, it was raised with VW head office who approved a goodwill warranty replacement at no charge. I did ask nicely :)

Exact same thing just popped up in my wife's 2015 model - passenger side "eyebrow" light failed. We have 56k on the clock, so out of the bumper-to-bumper warranty. Anyone had any luck getting VW to replace this based on goodwill? Seems insane that a light like this should fail at 56k and require replacement of the whole assembly to the tune of $1k+...

So, I have got Chinese clone of VAS5054A scanner. The enclosed discs were useless. All archives I found in internet were corrupted. Don't ask me where I sourced ODIS S software. What next? I initiated self-diagnostic, however no errors?
