Hi,

Trying to get this round plate off the crankshaft cover as need to set to tdc to remove water pump. I have the locking tool. Cant figure out how its supposed to come off. Have tried pulling and levering it out.

Any ideas before I try brute force?

Use a thick allen key next to it as fulcrum and a strong flat screwdriver as lever to get under the inner circle lip of that seal. It just pulls out.

Ps : i dont think the engine needs to be a tdc to do the waterpump.

Thanks for the tip, got the plate off today. I meant was fitting the tdc tool so I the pump doesnt spin when I undo the bolt.

I got the first coolant drain plug out with nipple on it, it was full of crap. The other one is stripped so struggling, and there is very little space. Im wondering if I take the pump out as it is, will water run out through the plug I have removed, and not into the sump? I think the plug with the nipple is between the 2 seals on the pump, where does the oil come into contact with the pump?

This picture I made should clarify.

If you pull the waterpump you have to drain the coolant in the block first to below the waterpump level.
