Hi all.

For the last 2 weeks I've had an issue with randomly intermittent cameras in my 2022 CR. Select reverse and they all work as required, or one, two or all cameras fail. Vehicle reports show no issues.

Enlightenment welcome!

Cheers,

Mark

Not sure what you mean by "Vehicle reports show no issues". Do you mean an auto scan of the vehicle looking for fault codes?

Mark,
sounds like a software issue. Volkswagen have known issues with earlier MIB3 media units displaying similar problems with camera/s and external devices.
You need to note down what happens and when and let your dealer know. They most likely will update your software version.

So this issue continues on. During and after wet weather I get camera failures. Sometimes all, sometimes one or two, seldom the same cameras failing and always random. Had the car serviced (60k) by the dealer in October, reported the issue, NFF but they did a SW update anyway. We've had rain in recent weeks and yep, the same issue occurs.

My thoughts are there's a carputuer module somewhere that's failing in wet weather.

Ideas, thoughts, suggestions welcome.

Hi Mark,
Have you tried to replicate the issue by washing your vehicle?
If you are not getting any problems after giving it a good hose down, and paying attention to areas where the cameras are located, then the problem could be the main control unit (J1121 control unit for driver assistance systems 4K4 907 107 with a letter depending what one you have).
The control unit is located on the floor panel in the front left foot well.
See image below.

There could be some possibilities there, water entering your vehicle, poor connections or a faulty unit.

I would firstly look at the location in the foot well and see if it is dry before and after washing down the vehicle. Then if you can access the unit, disconnect all the connections, clean them out and reconnect.

Your Tech at the dealership should have ran a scan firstly to see if any faults were recorded, if none then done a physical check of the control unit.

Thanks Flipper Dog.

No issues encountered when washing the car. I don't think this issue is water as such, but high humidity and dampness. The car can be in the garage and dry as......then reverse out in wet weather and no camera(s).
