Had the new Continental DWS 06 (May 2015 version) installed a couple of weeks ago and wow are they nice. Replaced my Continental 4x4 contacts. The ride seems a little softer, probably the side walls, however the handling is actually a little better. Ride noise is very minimal.

Will update as I get some miles on them.

Since I live in South Florida I can say I have seen many hot and rainy days. These tire handle the rain as good as any I have ever had. Not even a flinch to puddles. Traction in the wet is superb. The road noise is very minimal as well.

All in all for the money I don't think there is a better option then the DWS06

On my second set. Got them at Tire Rack. Overall good experience. Quite, good in rain, handle well, seem up to the challenge of NY metro roads (read: they suck), they wear ok, but changed the first set out after 24K.

The prices look like they have gone up...

Keep in mind these are a newer version of the ones you had in the past. Now we get a 50k mileage warranty where as before there was none. The newer tread pattern gives off less road noise and seems to have a little better traction in the wet stuff. Also the sidewalls are more predictable in handling corners.

I didn't know Conti upgraded. I went with the Nitto 420S 275/55/19. 31" tire as opposed to 28.7". I wish I would have saw that in my research. These were 1,010.00 out the door with road hazard. No warranty though. Good luck with Conti.

Quite right too!

I can only imagine the new DWS 06' will be really good. I have had my set of DWS' for almost 21,000 miles now and for a year and 5 months and don't have anything negative to write about the tires. Even with this past mega-winter of 2015 up here, where the roads were pure snow for one straight month from all the cold and all the snow, the tires did great, then again, the T3 is AWD after all.

I'll be looking forward to the OP's thoughts as he gets more miles/time on his tires.

I put Continental Extreme Contact DWS (275/45/19) on my 09. I started out in Florida where I bought the Treg and drove through extremely hot days and some huge downpours (read: gothic rain / lighting storms) at freeway speeds with absolutely no issues. Then, a nearly 4,000 mile road trip from FL to Portland OR with more rain and very bad roadway surfaces. DWS still performing very well. Then, moved to Montana where, for the first time with these tires, I just tonight drove through 3.5 inches of fresh snow and packed ice streets. The DWS handling was acceptable in fresh powder at slow surface street speeds. The Treg stopped when I wanted it to stop and it turned where I wanted to go. But I have been driving very gingerly -- afraid to do anything likely to cause me to lose traction. I did hit some extremely slick packed snow / ice and I began to slide. However, I was still able to make a 90 degree left turn without braking. The highest speed I have driven in the snow so far was 31 MPH. As I continue to drive the DWS this winter and in various driving conditions, I will update this post.

I can say that th DWS is an excellent highway tire and performs well on long interstate runs in all types of weather. And now, they seems (so far) to be performing at acceptable levels in snow. Ice however is a complete different animal and I'm not going to rely on these tires to perform anywhere near the levels of Nokian WR's which I had on my Audi A6 and allowed me to do freeway speeds on hard packed snow and ice. Check back in a couple of weeks for my DWS winter/snow update.

My '10 has the same tires. I also run DWS as 3 seasons on my quattros. I've run them a couple of times in early fall snow in Boston. They're marginal as compared to Nokian winter tires, and too wide...

I run Nokian R2s on the quattros in the winter. The difference is night and day.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a set of Nokian R2 SUVs, in a 235/60/18 for winter use. Local shop matches Discount Tire Direct pricing, at $211/tire.

I had two sets of DWS (older version). Great tire. I did just put on Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Season Plus. Just wanted to try something else. I think the newer DWS 06 is even better. Both tires are 1 and 2 on Tire Rack.

Just picked up my new (to me) 2012 TDI this weekend and it came with DWS's on her. I had the older version on my Jetta TDI and they were amazing in dry / wet conditions. With a front wheel drive car, they were decent at best in the snow. They got me around on 2 seasons and never lost control of the car; which is pretty impressive.

I am really interested to see how they do on the AWD TDI when and if we ever get snow this season here in NJ.
