Hi.
Im not quite sure wheather to post here or in the vcds-forum.

Due to milky lens and very poor light outcome im 'downgrading' both bi-xenon headlights to new models with DE-lens as showed in pictures.

My cost for the new headlights were around 300 usd for both, and the cheapest bi-xenon i could find was like 1200 usd.

Im replacing the halogen bulbs with h7 LED bulbs to get a nice bright shine. (with canbus/resistor)

From the coding i can see in cent. electronics theres a coding called +000128 xenon headlights installed. Should i just subtract this value from the whole coding before installing the new headlights?

BR and thank you very much.

When people convert from halogen to xenon they have to buy a new wiring loom section as below:

https://www.kufatec.co.uk/shop/en/v...hop/en/volkswagen/touareg/touareg-7l/xenon-hid-headlights-adapter-vw-touareg-7l

There is no wiring loom conversion for the reverse - xenon to halogen - as that's not the way folk go! So I think you will need to deal with the wiring first to see how your lights are going to work before you try to do anything with VCDS.

As for the bulbs, I've not come across any good LEDs H7s other than these which are excellent:

Yes, they're not cheap even with the 20% discount currently available, but since all the others I've tried and sent back have been dire with dreadful beam shape and even more dreadful light scatter, these really are the best available.

Personally I would have kept the old headlights, had the milky lenses polished back to clear by one of smart repair companies that can do this and then fitted a pair of new xenon bulbs.

Arigh **** i didnt think of the wiring. Thought it was plug and play, except coding.
I dont know where to get the xenon lenses polished, is it a DIY project?

Something like this https://southwesttinting.co.uk/headlight-polish-restoration/ cheaper if you DIY - Google is your friend!

Thank you.
I’m well aware about the outer plastic shell restoration and have fixed this, but that’s not the issue. It’s the xenon lens that is milky/foggy.

I also thoughts you were talking about the plastic.

Post a picture of you lights

And whee ae you in Europe?

Found the connector for the headlight. It should be possible to switch the cables from xenon to halogen and do the mod in VCDS.
Does anyone now how to find the VIN-number for this item?

The original was Philips D1S, bad light output
I tried to replace with the following
35w d1s from ebay 8000k, bad light output
55w d1s fom ebay 6000k, bad light output.

Thats why i think its the projector lens that has gone bad, as i can see others have problem with.

The ballast controls the wattage. If you didn't change the ballast, your 50W HIDs would only be operating at the stock 35W.
