Hello,

I recently bought a 2005 R5 Tdi Touareg. It works fine, but cluster instrument screen didn't have constrat and is not readable during sunny days. So I decided to replace it.
Bought a brand new screen on ebay from a german professional seller:

Swaping the monochrome red screen was easy, but when reconnect cluster I heard a strange noise : "clack", followed by a "hard reboot"...
Put back the orginal screen in cluster instrument but message "system error, bring car to workshop", with other errors about brakes and sensors (oil level, temp...) appear.
I heard the engine bay fans starting when I turn the key.
Engine can start.

I used VCDS for a diag :

Voltage is more displayed by the gauge.

I'm trying to check all the fuse, but at this point I didn't find any broken.

Your help / idea will be appreciated :)

You may have triggered all those codes when you did the swap. I'd clear them and see if they return.

Thanks for your reply
I will try, but I suppose it will not solve all issues, like battery voltage gauge that is more working. Radio is also not starting.
My feeling is : a fuse or relay burned. Otherwise cluster instrument is broken.

But I don't how to check it... Testing relay is not simple in my mind, and that's the same for cluster instrument :/

Since the issue began when you changed the screen it's reasonable to assume you left something disconnected. I did this repair on my former 05 and there are all kinds of things to be careful with.

Issue sloved ! I try with another cluster instrument and my Touareg come back to life. Conclusion: swap of little lcd red screen probably break or flash electronic component. After that it was not able to cummunicate with any ecu.
