Club Touareg T-Shirt Round 2: Designs

5543 Views 20 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  Andy R
Alright guys - after finding a 4 1/2 year old thread, the idea for a ClubTouareg T-Shirt is alive again.

T-Shirts will be made and be for sale through someone - maybe CafePress.

Before we start a poll I guess on how many people want one, or which design to pick - we need designs first.

I PM'd Andy R - he's for it and looking for a hi-res logo which we'll hopefully have access to soon.

So get creative!:writers_block:

As ideas so far, I have use the logo in full color on the front (top left breast pocket area) and the same logo again on the back, centered high - much bigger with a picture (black and white maybe to save costs?) below. I'm not great at photoshop and so I've only come up with two pics - but they'd need a little more editing maybe and possibly some fading around the edges or whatever for them to look right on a T.

What do you guys think?

Ill buy one if this happens!
Any designs to add? Ideas? We need these before they can be a reality. The members of ClubTouareg tried this 4 years ago, but didn't follow through all the way:confused:...maybe this time it can be different.:D
Using a Moab pic would be cool. Something similar to the ones in this link.

I went ahead and PM'd AreBe for authorization to maybe use on of his pics.

Thanks for the link Idea Dreg.

I posted this in the other thread, but please offer Tshirts cut for women as well, I hate looking like a big fat box in a regular t-shirt.

Also, I like the first picture you have with the mountains in the background. What would be perfect is "Aircooled"'s avatar with the huskey dogs peeking out the back window, in a Touareg going up that mountain road in the first pic would make a great logo.
Flattered you like my pics!

I'm more than happy to provide my truck as the "poster-treg." I'll have to dig up the hi-res versions of those photos.

Having made some side money in the t-shirt biz I would also recommend looking at Zazzle as they offer a lot more options than Cafepress. I'm also happy to lend my Photoshop skills to the group if need be.

@chippewawoman Most of these t-shirt sites have good fits for women. I bought my GF some stuff a couple years back and the quality was good, with fits that were pretty close to reality.
I second the request for women's T-Shirts.

I've always wanted to get a copy of this decal. I think VW used for the support Touaregs in Baja. A variation of the same idea might go well on the front with the club logo.

I really like the outline of the baja version - I don't have to skills to do the same with a side view Treg - but someone else might.

I personally was planning on keeping the front simple (maybe only a small design) with a bigger one on the back, but if we can put everything together and it looks good I definitely wouldn't have a problem with it.

I hope we get some more input, pics, and possibly some guys more savvy with pshop (or with more artistic skills).
So I was thinking that if there is too much grey, then the shirt (at least the back of it) would probably feel kinda stiff from the ink, and then when the shirt gets worn in, the ink might break off, so I tweaked my first two images some to reduce the amount of "color" in them which would yield more white, non ink area - making for a softer shirt?

This is a terrific idea!! I've been searching for some Touareg wearables for some time now with not too much luck. I'm in for a couple shirts at least. Something like AreBe's shot from the front is sharp too. I always thought the "face" of a Touareg sets it apart from all the rest. The going away shot is cool too. I know there's plenty of new 2nd owners over the last few months and it shouldn't be a problem reaching a good sized order.
I would be interested as well. Are we flirting with any sort of copyright infringement issues?

Would this be an official Club Touareg thing to support the site or someone’s leisure pursuit?

It would be grand to have a shirt that says “Club Touareg” etc but I wouldn’t want one at the legal expense of someone else.

As well, with the pictures… you may want to photoshop the license plate out.
I PM'd Andy R, who I think came up with the logo. As for copyright issues from VW - I don't know. At first I was looking at a more personal pursuit - but having it be an "official" ClubTouareg shirt would be cool also.

And yes, my license plate will be pshop'd out.

If VW doesn't have any issues with the VW Touareg at the top of the site, I'm sure they wouldn't mind the VW logo on a shirt for the site, but I guess we could always tweak it.

Anyone have VW connections?
Anyone have VW connections?
TreginginCO does and I am sure he could make a call to find out.
I emailed VW trademarks on what exactly we need from them to put the word Touareg, the VW logo, and a portion of a Touareg on shirt - hopefully all we have to do is have a license - which is free. We'll see.

here is a high res logo that was used for the decals

Picture no workie...

What decals...? Pics of them on a 'Reg?
Here is what VW had to say:

"Thank you for your inquiry and continued enthusiasm for the Volkswagen brand.

To use our trademarks you will need to apply for a club license through this website. This license will only be valid in the United States.

Please note, however, T-shirts and other merchandise may not be sold 'for profit'. Also, any use of the Volkswagen logo must meet our design standards as included in the General Terms and Conditions of the license agreement. If you have any questions regarding use of the logo, please upload a sample of the t-shirt design and we will review accordingly.

-VWGoA Trademark Licensing Administrator"

So once we get the design, I or maybe an admin if we want to sell the shirts through the site, can apply for the club license and we should be good to go!

Cheers,
Ben K.

At one time I thought there were Club Touareg decals. The T shirt conversations jogged my memory. I'd sure like to try one of those on the back hatch glass.
