Thanks... Oh I agree I had an 05 Porsche Cayenne S that I pulled both bumpers and man what a job I had small bags everywhere with all the parts. I've never had any issues with that paint chipping and I'm very careful if I ever put anything back there. If for some reason it doesn't hold up I'll just pull it again and replace with the one you installed. I won't need to worry about damaging it since I'll be replacing it. I don't think I'll need the 3M tape plus it would allow it to sit up a little higher. It should install the same way before I pulled it.

You can see in my picture what clip broke, its the eighth one from the left.

I eventually trashed my old cover cause no one wanted it, but now that I see your piece better, it sure looks like the same clip I broke. I took a better picture of the VW trim cover.

It's got more of a satin look than just flat black. It's not perfect, but way better than the chrome piece. I've seen a couple of black trim covers on AliExpress, but they looked like the were going for a brushed black look and it was specifically listed for a 2012 Touareg. The only cool thing was they offered a matching interior piece as well.

I would have to agree I prefer the look of mine better. I’m surprised they just didn’t use the same pattern as the chrome one but just in black it looks just too plain on the vehicle..

I re-install the trim today. I did end up applying two coats of semi gloss to give a little bit better protection not the best picture but you get the idea. I also removed the emblems and decided to keep them off instead of painting them black, gives it a cleaner look.

Man, that looks so good it's got me all fired up to do it again but I have so many other projects to hit. Dangit!!!

Now black out the "VW" on the hatch. :D

Thanks… I’m leaving the front and rear emblems chrome, because my new wheels have a polished lip around the edge that will set it off just perfectly

I installed the Lamin X tinted headlight film, well one at least. I had to order another one for the passenger side. I already had Xpel film on them from 2015 and wanted to install them over them like I did on the fog lights with no issues. When I went to pull the tinted film up to clear a bubble it also pulled the Xpel off. So I had to remove the drivers side Xpel to install the new tinted one and wait until Monday for the replacement.
