Vehicle Details

Year: 2004
Model: Touareg
Engine: 3.2 V6
Miles: 114,000
Suspension: Spring

Diagnosis:

I have replaced all 6 coil packs (pre & post VW Recall in the past year). Installed new NGK Spark Plugs and my check engine light is still flashing these codes.

Codes that keep coming back:

P2189 - System Too Lean at Idle Bank 2
P2187 - System Too Lean at Idle Bank 1
P0300 - Random Multiple Cylinder Misfire
P0305 - Cylinder 5 Misfire Detected

Can anyone assist me?

A Fault MAF sensor can cause these codes. You need to monitor the short term and long term fuel trim as well as the MAF readings at idle, part throttle and under full load.

Is it always the same codes? Always cylinder 5 that records a misfire?

It's not always Cylinder 5. I've had 1-6 show up; random order and sequences.

I will check the MAF. That's good to know.

Any other ideas?

Yes. It broke down on me and would not drive or keep running. At the stealership at a cost of $95 for a tow and $400 for parts and labor

I wonder how many times the "mad" smiley has been used on these forums to show respect for these vehicles...
