@Harry Putter have you seen these?

It would be handy to have a strap like that one if it had 4 tie-down parts to utilise the 4 lugs in the Treg boot. Also one with the ratchet closer to the lug keeping it below the tyre level. I could then add a cover that sat flat on the tyre.

I'm looking for advice on changing from the standard tyres supplied with my 2019 Launch Edition 3.0 TDI Touareg - Bridgestone 285/45R20 Alenza.

First set lasted 42,000klm.. the second set now needs changing out at about 38,000klm.........10,000klm was towing 3100kg caravan on tarred roads.

Very happy with ride and performance but not so much with kilometres.

Also, will probably be doing a bit more dirt travelling with the van hooked up so would probably be looking for some All Terrain recommendations.

Thanks in advance

Update:

Have purchased and installed set of Falken Wildpeak AT3W.....275/55R20.

hi Rahway I have the same car and wanted AT tyre. How are they going, what did you do with spare -I picked up Audi that fits The treg. The fallen seem expensive - any hints on deals. Look forward to your reply. Angelo

I have the same car, but changed to 19" wheels with Yokohama Geolander AT 255x55x19. I got 4 VW wheels off the Adventurer model and have an Audi wheel (same offset) as a spare. The wheels have been just rotated this week after 10,0000 klms and are wearing well. The tyres are quiet although fuel usage has increased about 0.5l/100klms. It's worth it for the peace on mind, given the space saver spare was unusable for towing.

The purpose for AT tyres was for towing a 3.1t caravan (that I sold last month), rather than full off-road. However, that is about to be tested when we take delivery a new full off-road caravan next month.

I have some Yoko Geolandar AT's fitted at the moment, admittedly not to a Touareg (to an AWD Outlander).
My experience - they wear really well - and they grip well initially... but I've noticed that they've become a little more slippery as they wear down towards half tread.
Obvs the caveat here is that the Outlander isn't a Touareg!

Hi Ray
I am reaching out to the community for urgent advice. I also have a 2019 Launch edition CR 3.0 LE and have ordered the same tyres, Falken Wildpeak 275/55R20 AT3W. They came and the tyre fitter advised that there is a very small gap between the tyre and the ??metal arm/strut on the top of the tyre ie 2mm and they were concerned that there could be some minor scrapping of the inside tyre wall when turning corners or wheel locked for manoeuvres. Could you please urgently get back to me and let me know if your tyres scrap or scrub? He is holding the tyres for a few days so that I can get advice from club members. Thank you in anticipation for a reply. Angelo

I have just changed the 21 inch rims on the new V8 cr to custom made Koya 20 inch rims. Fitted 265/50/20 cooper discover at3 4s tyres as they are very quiet and good in the wet. Very happy after 4000klms. Also only 1%increase in diameter and circumference. Would recommend.
hi B&B, I am also looking at coopers thx for the recommendation, any further update before i plunge in with the purchase? is the speedo still accurate ? do you know what the CRs std circumfrence is ? im looking at AT3xlt 275/55r20s with an OD of 810mm.I HAVE THE STD 20" RIMS FITTED and dont want to change..

Hi Joseph. My 2021 cr V8 was fitted with 285/40/21 standard. I fitted coopers 265/50/20 tyres. This gave me an increase of about 18 mm in sidewall height. The circumference of the new tyres was 2427 mm compared to 2390 mm of the original tyres. I will need to check my Speedo against satellite speed. I think that my real speed is still a little less than what my Speedo records. I have done about 20000 klms on the new tyres and yes they are a little noisier than the standard tyres but I am more than happy with the wear and the fact that are safer when towing on some of our rough Queensland roads. Regards Garry

Hi Matt
Great to catch up with you at Daly Waters. My van is a Supreme Territory 18'6" with standard towbar, just the OzGlide hitch that you saw.

I'll take your tip when I get back home & relocate my spare wheel to the caravan rear bar (a 4 post one, not 3 as I told you). All good here at Katherine, Litchfield tomorrow.

Nice looking tyres - i was looking at getting these as well however the speed rating is too low for the car - being a 'T' rating they don't actually comply with VW standards
