I'm looking for advice on changing from the standard tyres supplied with my 2019 Launch Edition 3.0 TDI Touareg - Bridgestone 285/45R20 Alenza.

First set lasted 42,000klm.. the second set now needs changing out at about 38,000klm.........10,000klm was towing 3100kg caravan on tarred roads.

Very happy with ride and performance but not so much with kilometres.

Also, will probably be doing a bit more dirt travelling with the van hooked up so would probably be looking for some All Terrain recommendations.

Thanks in advance

Update:

Have purchased and installed set of Falken Wildpeak AT3W.....275/55R20.

@RayWaz
I am currently running Goodyear Eagle F1 275/45 R20
Have done abt 15k on them looking forward to another 20k hopefully.
Not a lot of towing (3k) with a 3t van.
Touaregs are heavy, but interested to know what to expect out of tyres in Australian conditions.
Also interested in tyres that are quiet, the current Goodyear tyres see quiet.

I have put BF Goodrich AT tyres on my Touareg. Yes, you do have a little more road noise but it enhances the 4x4 off road capability dramatically. You will double your current tyre use compared to the Bridgestones. I travel on a dirt road daily in Tasmania where it is wet and slippery often, and feel so much safer

What size are the Goodrich tyres?

Standard rims on '08 Touareg are 17" the tyres Imor fitted however are not.
OE fitment is 255/60R17, Imor has fitted larger tyres to the standard 17" rims it seems as have I.
Mine are also LT265/65R17 with Cooper AT3's.
BTW, whilst fitting larger tyres in excess of 15mm in height is legal because the Touareg is classified as catagory "MC", it is prudent to disclose and endorse your vehicle insurance policy to show that you have fitted non standard tyres to your vehicle to avoid possible issues arising in case of making a claim.

Any tyre scraping with the 20" Falken Wildpeaks? Would you recommend them for the CR?

Yes clearly, they are standard rims!
Look. I may be off on a wrong tangent here, but I thought the original post was about the CR model. From what I can gather, its stud pattern/offsets are different from all previous model Touaregs. The smallest diameter wheels I've found for this model are 19 inches. I'd love to get 18 inch wheels, but I don't think they'd fit over the brake calipers. So, 17 inch wheels are not on my radar for the CR.

I have just had the same Falken’s fitted to my 2019 Launch Edition in prep for picking up our new 20’6 Zone Off Road in three weeks. I was lucky enough to pick up an extra 20” OEM rim and have fitted that as my spare. Not much space used up. No kids to travel with so space not at a premium for us. I was going to mount the spare on the back of our caravan but thought it would be a better proposition in the car. I love the tyres. Feel like Treg could climb a tree.

I have just changed the 21 inch rims on the new V8 cr to custom made Koya 20 inch rims. Fitted 265/50/20 cooper discover at3 4s tyres as they are very quiet and good in the wet. Very happy after 4000klms. Also only 1%increase in diameter and circumference. Would recommend.

How have you found these tyres for noise and any change in speedo readings? Considering doing what you did or going to a 19inch rim and 255/55 tyre.
Also setting my CR up a lap towing 3.3t van

Pretty good Matt. Slight increase of road noise on smooth tarmac. Not uncomfortable though. Haven't checked speedo. My van is 2740kg. TBW 196kg. How is your TBW. Just posted about my TB height. I was able to access 2x20" factory rims. Way to expensive for me to go the 19".

The TBW for my van at tar will be 170ish yet to take delivery so should be enough wiggle room to stay under 280kg. Your Tyers get great reviews it’s pity they don’t do a 19” rim size.
