Got a B2 S1 oxygen sensor code that keeps coming back. It seems to usually do it after driving at a constant highway speed and coasting off the ramp. Do you know which side is B2 (bank 2)? No reason not the swap the sensor if it can be done without dropping the engine.

Thanks! Glad that's the one to get at from underneath I was looking from the top last night and it would be be really tight without pulling the intakes off. Where is the connector on the O2 sensor pig tail? Can you get to it from below or from on top? I notice that yours is a 2004 which does not have DPF's. I hope I can still get access as readily as you did with the DPF in place.

I might do the intakes anyway. I checked them last night and they are a little coked up especially right behind the throttle body where there's a 1/2" mountain of carbon built up. The hoses from the intercooler are also quite cruddy with thick oily residue. I think I need to clean the whole lot and then get a tune to back off the EGR.

The EGR system reduction/Delete will only do so much, the main culprit to all the oily sludge is the PCV system. Stop those oil vapours getting into the inlet manifold and most if not all your issues will be gone.

Makes sense. Any recommendations? Is there a 'catch can' or something that can be put in the PCV system?

Thanks. Not sure how messy venting underneath the vehicle would be without an oil separator. Nice simple and cheap option though so I will probably go ahead and do that modification and just monitor how messy it gets.

I like the look of the pro vent cans but they are quite large and it may be tough to find room for them.

Just got done swapping out my PS sensor. I did the DS one a couple of weeks ago. I'll add a couple of things I found to this thread for anyone that may do this in the future.

For the DS the OP has it covered and I did it pretty much exactly the same way. Two things I did differently. I did pop the linkage off the shifter but did not remove the lever. And the other thing I did was to move the DPF sideways a little to gain more room for my arm to get in there. Loosen the mount to the chassis and wedge the pipe sideways. The flexible coupling just ahead of the DPF will allow it to move about an inch with some slight persuasion. I found a ball joint separator than I used between the DPF flange and trans but you could use almost anything. Get creative.

For the PS I loosened the O2 sensor from underneath gaining access above the lower control arm where the steering rack inner tie rod bellows pokes through. Turn the wheel all the way to the right to retract the bellows for more room. You will need a 7/8" crows foot and about 20 inches of extensions and at least one universal joint or a wobbly. I couldn't come up with a combination that worked from the top. You are working right next to the turbo controller so you can check the E clips while you are in there.

I also found that my arms were a bit too big to squeeze in from underneath or on top so I loosened the 3 sub frame bolts on that side and using a jack allowed it to droop about an inch.

Once the sub frame was lowered. I removed the throttle body and EGR valve so I could squeeze my arm down the back of the head and reach the top of the O2 sensor enough to spin it out. I re tightened it from underneath.

Took about 6 hours to the DS and about 5 hours to do the PS. It would take half the time if I did it again just because I wouldn't be experimenting with various socket, wobblies, extensions etc.

A few options there. Depending on how much work you want to do.
Yes ultimate is 2 catch cans 1 for each side. V10 problem is very little room to put it but to the inventive I m sure not a big issue. ProVent make some really nice catch cans.

or simple option

Swap PCV valves from LH to RH etc blank off suction pipe into inlet manifold and vent your crankcase via the hose out the btm of the car.

I would still see about a EGR reduction after this.

Just doing the PCV bypass and noticed that my PCV valves are identical side to side. I can move the connections around enough to do the connections but thought it was an interesting difference between Drags build and mine.
