anyone replaced these? VW says DPF needs to be replaced. 300k kms on vehicle. VW will not warrantee under emissions fix as new flex pipe was welded in between catalytic converter and DPF therefore DPF has been "modified" and therefore no warranty. The end result of this for me i must replace Converter and DPF at my expense to get any further emissions warranty. In Canada converter and DPF much more expensive than USA. $4500 CAD ($3277 USD) vs $2786 CAD ($2029 USD). US dealers not keen to ship to Canada plus want $1922 CAD ($1400 USD) core charge. Not really keen to bypass the converter/DPF as then i would have no future warranty. I have approximately 40k kms of emissions warranty left.

any ideas welcome

What's your question?
You've clearly (or someone has) already voided the warranty.
What's the full story? When did you get the vehicle? Under what conditions? Do you have an issue with the DPF or why are you thinking it needs to be replaced (either under warranty or on your own dime, etc)

guess i am just venting my Touareg/VW frustrations. I am disappointed that i cannot buy the 2008 Toyota Land Cruiser V8 diesel that Chris Harris recently reviewed on YouTube. Dealer says DPF is shot and because a muffler shop welded in a new flex pipe rather than replacing the catalytic converter VW will not honour the Extended Emissions Warranty for the DPF. So should i spend $6,000 repairing a 2009 or sell it?

Also, if your VIN has been flagged as TD1, it's not something that can be undone, so you really need to know.... Unless you know someone that can hack into the motherlands mainframe to get rid of that.

This emissions warranty certainly colours the way people think about their defects. I can't work out how you came to have a new flex pipe welded in if you are using VW for your maintenance, if not then why should they be helpful with this issue.
If you read just a little you'll see that I replaced my DPF just a few weeks ago with my vehicle at 308K Km. So much the same as yours. Other than trying a DPF clean, you'll have a DPF ash load that is at max and you'll need to change it. All up cost of AU$2500 including a set of HD ramps, a low power impact driver for changing all glow plugs, six glow plugs, a DPF differential pressure sender and the front EGT sensor all included in that price. I'm just away from home giving it a few thousand under the belt to prove the repairs (and have a good time). You'd need the VCDS to adapt the DPF and the pressure sensor so may as well start with that.
Otherwise you need to find a mug who'll give you adequate money for your high milage car that has a seriouly expensive repair due (if you use the dealer network).
Are you going to get any emissions warranty return for your $6000 you'll need to spend to keep your warranty? Otherwise just get the DPF replaced by your exhaust guy that you use and find someone to adapt it afterwards.

I personally wouldn't touch any of the emissions system as long as you are covered under the emission program coverage.
As you may have seen here that I recently had my DPF replaced by VW free of charge. I guaranty if I did anything to the exhaust system VW would have reject my request for a new DPF. I take my car to VW as long as the warranty is in effect. I expect to see them again at some point for another replacement before the warranty to up. It's a great coverage to have.
Sorry for your issue,good luck

So they eliminated both flanges and butchered up both precat and dpf instead of just butchering the precat?
Or post DPF between it and the NOx cat?
