This is actually incorrect. Nothing heats the coolant, there is an electric grid heater installed in the HVAC housing, works just like an electric space heater you'd buy for your house.
I did not know that. I've never seen the heater, nor heard of it described in this way. On my T2, either it didn't work, or it was a different type of heater, as I never had heat until the temp gauge moved. I haven't had my T3 long enough to compare. I assumed it was heating the coolant since mine achieves operating temperature literally 5 times more quickly than my T2.

I think the fitting of the auxiliary Webasto diesel powered heater was standard on the Generation 1 (T1 anfmd T2) European Touareg Tdis but the parking heater function was a factory option and was not standard.

The Webasto will allow me to set a schedule so that it comes on in the mornings, heating the interior and clearing the windows before I even get to the car. :)
Are you looking at the one that is in the 230V electric and install it in the cabin? Or the diesel version that warms the coolant?

Integrated into the engine's coolant circuit and connected to the fuel tank, the pre-heater gives off its heat to the vehicle's own convector. The vehicle's heating system passes finely metered quantities of warm air into the car's interior. In addition, the preheater warms the engine's coolant circuit, thereby preventing harmful cold starts.

All NAR T3 TDIs have a 12v grid heater installed in the HVAC housing that very quickly warms the cabin air. I am going to install a diesel Webasto parking heater in addition to the factory electric heater.

Hows the retrofit going?
It has been stopped for 2 weeks. :( I'm waiting on a crucial part (front right level sensor) that's coming from Europe. Been a month already. If I don't have it by next Wednesday, I'll order one locally.

I "test ran" the system 2 weeks ago. Plugged the module and fuses in, made some changes in vcds and voila, DIS displayed some errors and vehicle level status. Was able to run the compressor and test the valve block.

I need the euro coding for the brake module (03 ), unfortunately vcds doesn't have a label file for it so I have no idea which bit to byte to change. I'm contemplating buying a VAS5054 but unsure if that would help me in this case.

There are tons of people on here from Europe or Australia with air ride, no one can help out?

How about this?

Finally received the right front level sensor. Made up a bunch of wiring harnesses and connected things up and did a trial run. Has codes obviously since the air struts aren't installed yet, and I haven't re-wired the left front and rear level sensors. You can see the vehicle height display on the left side of the DIS.

I'm really hoping to have this all done and running before Christmas. Lesson learned - don't start any projects until you have all the parts.

4xMotion retrofit will happen in the spring. I've already acquired the dash switch, modules, and some pigtails. Need to source the transfer case, rear diff and axles.

Id love to see the parts list at some point. Do you have that by chance?

If the parts for this retrofit aren't too crazy expensive (ie using air struts from a Cayenne) I would love to do this one day.

sigh... one day

Please please please keep detailed records of what you're doing. One day will be here eventually!

Well, she's all operational now! :) Gotta calibrate the level once more and tidy up the harnesses and install the load sill lowering switch, but the Touareg goes up and down now. :grin2:
