I have an 04 v10 and pretty much since I bought it, it’s been buzzing on the highway at speeds above 70mph. It’s fairly periodic. When it is happening it’ll come in go as you drive. It’s also periodic as in it didn’t happen for months and then all of a sudden it started happening everyday. Happens when accelerating, decelerating, in drive, sport, triptronic, and neutral. It sounds like it’s originating on the back passenger (right) side of the car but it’s hard to tell when driving. I assumed it was possibly a bad bearing, but I had a forum pop up about the stepper motor and wasn’t sure if that’s a possible cause.
Extra notes..
There have been 2 different sets of wheels on the car and tires have been rotated. Still occurs. I’ve also replaced the front passenger hub and axle with no change. At slow speeds when turning to the left there is some binding, but it happens randomly and I have yet to successfully recreate the bind in a parking lot. There’s also a fault for an implausible signal to the rear differential which won’t allow my to lock it.
I have an extra rear hub and axle, but before I start swapping that stuff out and having to get another alignment. I figured I’d see what you guys had to say.
Thanks
