Good evening guys,

Any reason not to buy a 2014 TDI? We test drove one tonight and loved it. It seems to be a heck of lot better than our 08 v6. We are looking at the base model.

Please give me your thoughts, anyone have any issues?

Thanks,

Just check for steering wheel shake when you test drive it.

Type SWS into the Search facility.

Thanks guys, well tonight the wife drove her white with black interior 2014 r line tdi. We looked at a lot of different options and payment and trim levels but we are extremely happy with the decision. I took it for a 50 mile hot lap and we are blown away how incredibly good it handles. We had amazing memories and tons of fun in the old girl and look forward to many more memories in the new TReg.

Congratulations! My wife also loves driving my TDI.

The truck, for a 5,000lb vehicle, does handle pretty darned good for what it is. I think mine/Exec, with 20" wheels 275-tires, handles even better with the added tire width. R-line, nice!

Swapped the 2011 Touareg for a 2014 a week ago and no regrets. A few minor changes. Couldn't wait for the 2015 as the mileage was getting up there and deal was too good to pass up.

I want to also call out to make sure you don't buy one that has highway vibration.I love the TDI, but I am on my 3 set of tires due to wear and vibration-the 3rd set is being mounted today. the 2013 TDI has 38k miles- yikes
So vibrate and some don't -the dealer is helpless

My recommendation to anyone who doesn't have it is NOT to rotate the tires ever! I have 20k miles now no vibration what so ever! :) next tires will be Michelins though

I have heard about the vibration issues here on the boards... I have *not* experienced ANY of that - my 2014 is rock solid at all speeds and is very smooth at freeway speeds (and well beyond) with no vibration whatsoever.

1300 miles and no apparent vibration so far. Headed for a longer road trip shortly so we'll see. I never had a vibration issue with the 2011, but the original tires were very loud. when it was time to replace them I went with a less aggressive tread with no regrets.

Over the past several weeks have had conversations with VW N.America re: shimmy at higher speeds with my 2012 Touareg TDI. I had the car back 3 times to the the dealership starting & 10,000 miles. I referenced similar issues on Touareg Club and they ignored.
VW N.America's solution?! Buy a new Touareg and they'll give me a discount!!??
This is the response from Corporate VW!??
My family has 3 VW's ---- don't know how I can continue to support VW with this type attitude and response.

Find a good mechanic who will remove the wheel, carefully clean the mating faces on wheel and hub and then refit and torque your wheels carefully OFF the ground to 133 ft lbs.

Or go out, buy a torque wrench, a wire brush, a small tube of copper grease to put a smear on those mating faces, and then DIY.
