I bought a 2005 V8 w/ air recently and I’m installing it (along with the rear HD camera they send this week. I’ll post before and after pictures. But in short I think this is the best for the $.

 

This is the same unit I have. I mean same design. You get rid of the bulky peeling buttons and you get more screen real estate. You won’t have a power off/on button. The device powers on/off with key in ignition position. You might not be able to use a Bluetooth obd adaptor with. Ask the seller before buying. And I agree this is the best unit for the Treg out there. Get the max RAM you can afford. Latest ones have 6 gigabytes. I’m getting one for a friend. I can try to get a discount from the seller if you are ready to purchase.

Why would you need a BT adapter? The one I bought and provided link had BT built-in.

 

Just don’t buy the 1/2 gig versions.

What phone do you have. The unit support Carplay. Google it and see how it works if you haven’t used it before. Orherwise you can stream music over bluetooth the old way.

Do you want to replace the original head unit? If not, then you could simply get a BT adapter that plugs into the back of the HU. That's what I did. Works great.

contact Crutchfield regarding the stereo. a friend of mine worked with them for updating his stereo/bluetooth/nav system on his Toureg and he was extremely satisified with their suggestions, installation kits,wiring harness,pricing and information. i think it was 650 dollars and made for a simple installation.

Wireless Car Play - steering wheel controls volume. seat heaters work, now - granted it wouldn't actually play the videos on YouTubeTV (unit does not support digital copyrights or whatever) - but I did grab a video of playing a YouTube music video to my daughter...

 

First off, thanks for the great lead on this unit! I'm looking to upgrade my 05 V8's head unit prior to an upcoming road trip (including to the Anderson/Clemson area funnily enough!).

Anywho, could anybody tell me if I'll be able to utilize the factory gps receiver with this unit, or will it only work with the included gps receiver?

Not a big deal either way, just wondering mostly. Thanks again.

Why are there so many Tigers with Touaregs? Class of '14 here just picked up my Treg last week as a 2nd car/toy for the beach. I am very tempted on the AA/Carplay unit, thanks for the great photos. Loss of factory backup camera bothers me irrationally...
