I would greatly appreciate some suggestions on this mystery. Over the weekend I drove my 2014 Touerag TDI back to Canada from Florida. Around Virginia I realized that I had no heat in the truck. AirConditioning works fine and the fan works properly but no heat. For my whole drive the temperature stayed above zero degrees centigrade. By the time I was north of Montreal the temp dropped to -1 and then just before reaching Mont-Tremblant the temp went to -5. At that point the heat came back on in the truck but so did a blinking Diesel engine pre-glow. Could this be a thermostat issue and do I need to change the thermostat? My plan is to start the car this afternoon when the temp outside is +3 and see if the issue goes away. Could it be a glow plug issue? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

many thanks, John

It may have stored faults. VCDS is a must if you own one of these vehicles. Its $200 for the cable and will pay for itself after 2 uses.

Cheap obd readers will not get you far so don't be tempted to cheapen out.

A blinking glow plug is a major fault because most people ignore the check engine light.

You need VCDS, I'd stop driving the vehicle before you find out what it is.
Yep
Can you use a VCDS with a Mac laptop? seems from what I am reading it is exclusively PC-based.
Nope. There's ways around it but they aren't supported and they some always work
