Is there a date on the main battery under the front seat of when the battery was manufactured? The battery in my daughters' 2008 Touareg is either 8 years old or less if it was replaced prior to her purchase in 2012. She has not had any issues but we are going into another Minnesota winter and I don't care to deal with replacing it when the temp is -20F.

Thanks, Bob

I am not much help on the date stamp, but logically if it is a 2008 why would it have been replaced prior to 2012 as that would only be four years old at that time. Generally something like a battery won't be replaced when selling because if it isn't broken why replace it (for the person selling).

So...I would be very surprised if that battery isn't the original unit. Generally I try to replace my batteries every 5 to 6 years, so I am due summer of 2017 or as late as early 2018 (I purchased and replaced battery both in 2012 as well and own a 2008. ).

TDI batteries normally last 4-5 years at most. Give a extra year for mild climate.
My experience is different, still have original batteries in the v10.
Its 10 years old, done nearly 200000kms and has been used well.
No low battery issues at all.
