I prefer snow rated AT tires to dedicated snow tires for better all around performance and tougher sidewalls for dealing with pot hole season. I am not worried about off road capability, just dry, wet and snow conditions. The Geolander G015's currently on my winter wheels have been good and would not hesitate to get another set of them. That said, I see that the the Falken Wildpeak AT's get better reviews and are cheaper so I am thinking of going in that direction this time. Does anyone have experience with these tires on their Touareg? Any other suggestions for snow rated AT tires?

The Kenda Klever A/T2 on my 2010 was great in the snow last winter. I feel they were about 90-95% of my true snow tire. See my thread here. New shoes

Psst - they are about $50 cheaper per tire than Wildpeak A/T3W in my size plus they are 3PMSF rated.

Wild peaks are the hot tire in our cold country. They have a quiet ride, aggressive look, and good traction. Personally love the Yokohama and have them on mine now and on a previous Escalade for winter. I will be installing Blizzaks though since I have them and they are awesome in the ice and snow we get.

If you really want to do well in snow/ice/slush, see if you can find Nokian Hakkapeliitta's or Bridgestone Blizzaks in your size. Alaskans drive on icy roads almost half of the year, and folks who, um, drive aggressively find them to work well.
+1 on the Blizzaks. They are the winter tires on my Jetta, and I love them. I also run General altimax arctic's, but can't get them for the 20" exec. size, at least not until I get some smaller rims for winter only use. Additionally, I have run Michelin x-ice and they are great too.

The Hakkapeliitta's I have not tried yet but have friends who swear by them.

I have trucks that run AT tires, and those tires go on the rack once winter comes around.

+1 on the Hakkapeliitas. We have tried almost every type of winter tire and every one of our vehicles has migrated to the Nokians or is in the queue. Michelin X-Ice tires are my second favorite. If the price is right, I would buy Blizzaks, but it would have to be a very favorable price.

I'm currently running Falken Rubitreks on mine and really like them so far. I run a 245/70/17 size. I have had them off road as well as on and we are currently getting nice snow fall here in UT.
