According to the dealer the Kessy module has broken. This would be the 3rd module to fail. The center consule is open and I can access the module, anyone recommend something to try? Basically you put the key in and nothing happens. No engine noise, no starter, no crank, nothing.. Twisting key to right to start does nothing.

Also the shifter console is open, how does one drop the gear into neutral?
Anyone have a picture or description? I don't see how it goes into neutral.

Thanks any help will be appreciated. Car sits dead in driveway and consoles open.

P.S. the latest Kessy module that is installed now is 7l0-909-137-cx-01w

It's a 2004. The dealer diagnostic said "Car needs a new kessy module".
Car has 86K miles and this would be the second one that isn't under warranty.
Last one was purchased at 81K but is over 1 year, so no warranty. I have had electrical gremlins since the beginning. Right now seeing if the car can be purchased as a buyback. But since it's in the driveway just wondering if there is anything I can try.

dvmis is offering sane advice here. Although I was sincere, I was being slightly sarcastic that you should go for the 3rd, this time around part # , but yet there me be some truth to this. I simply do not understand why they installed a different part# the second time around. This is rediculous and coming back to what dvmis wrote.

Being expected to pay for a third Kessy after close to a year is called being taken for a ride.

Do be polite and diplomatic with them first. Don't barge in there. State your case.

If that fails, then show them what we wrote to you, that we are behind you, that you will post up their name on here for all to see, and then call VW head office for good measure.

It's time to end these tactics.

The car was at the dealership for one week until all records were looked at by VW. The final response was the car is out of warranty and so is the part. The diagnostic was done by unplugging the Kessy module and everything ran normal. Plug in the kessy module and things are acting up. So Kessy module needs to be replaced. They could care less that batteries have been replaced in the past, voltage spikes, vw roadside, etc.

So I have no choice but to hire a lawyer and ask for a buyback. VW simply could care less, I have done all my maintenance there and this paid full price. Makes no difference! Crazy thing is I really like the car when it runs, wouldn't mind a Touareg2. But I won't do any service at the dealership and only buy a car with the extended warranty, otherwise no deal.

Crazy but VW just dosn't want to admit that the 2004 have a problem. The dealership always acts as though they have never run into this problem. But they did offer me $1k downpayment on a new car, lol!

I hope the buyback works out! Otherwise I have a feeling this won't be the last Kessy module to be in the car. Going on number 4!
