It's soon time for new tires.... I've got 275/45R20s and am considering 275/55R20s. Anyone have them and have any thoughts or comments?

Any clearance issues?

As I understand it they are almost 2" bigger in diameter than the 275/45R20s

Yes I am running 275/55/20 Nexen Roadian Hp with 15mm spacers and it does not rub at all. They ride smooth and are quiet and I love the tread pattern.

Get out your measuring tape, and get your wheel offset, here is a good tool to use to compare tire sizes. I've just entered the tire sizes, you fill in the rest.
You need your rim width too!
I'm also in the same boat, and looking at going with 265/50-R20 but so many more choices for me, when going 275/55/ R-20 over the stock wheels/tires of 275/45/20. Also curious if people can provide real life feedback for day to day ride and driveability...
I’ve also considered 265/50R20, but not many XL rated tires available.

It’s particularly frustrating when you throw load ratings and tire category in the mix. Stock 275/45R20s are 110 load rated but an XL tire. Many manufacturers now making SL rated tires with 110-114 load ratings.

I’m leaning toward 275/55R20s with 117 XL load rating. Probably a heavier overall weight tire but with bigger diameter and higher load rating may still perform the same especially as it gets toward 7/32 wear.

Also interesting (to me) is that the Q7 uses a 295/35R21 107 XL tire. So I’m wondering if I could consider a 107 XL the true load rating of the chassis/platform and consider a 114 SL equivalent to a 107 XL....
I hear yah and looks like I can get either Falken Wildpeak AT3, Cooper AT3 and Nokian WRG4 in 265/50/20 size. I was really counting on going with the Celsius but is below the load rating outlined on the car so not gonna bother. The Nokian’s are pricey and I just need a decent tire, with low road noise that can last a few seasons through both summer and winter.

What tires are you looking at getting? I got time, as planning to get in the fall. Let me know how your tires work out for you, as I may step up to 275/55/20.
I just got a 275 45 r 20 8.5 jj wolf assassin rim tire proposal can it fit a petrol tuareg with normal springs not air suspension?

Update I went with silver scorpion rims so 275 45 20 with pirelli winter tires and it's a 9.5 or a 9 and a 60 or 61 for the et or offset so again alot of space even In the back I'm considering 50 but if any one can say I can put 55 I'm putting it now couse the 45 rly pools on the steering while rack so definitely need bigger tires to make it less harsh couse it rly hurts
