Tomorrow is the big day.... I have a few choices and would appreciate the advice of this group on following items...

1) Sienna color interior - popular or polarizing? resale consideration at some point.

2) Air Suspension or without air suspension - I will tow a trailer from time to time, snow in passes and occasional pasture crossing. Should I expect ongoing, expensive repairs?

3) White Gold exterior color - is this a popular color? resale consideration at some point.

4) TDI or V8 - personal preference or deal breaker?

By this time tomorrow, I will own one of these fine vehicles. I have searched for months and I have not found anything I like better.

Just ran the gauntlet myself.

Red leather is attractive to some, others not so much.

Air Suspension rides really, really, really nice. If you can get it -- get it. But not having it doesn't ruin the Touareg either. Subarus usually have no problem with the passes, and even the steel touareg has more ground clearance than an F150 4x4.

White gold looked pretty good to me? seemed pretty neutral

TDI was a must for me -- for towing the diesels keep better mileage which means range. When I tow it is for longer distances and not having to stop for gas as often is a huge plus. Diesel pretty much limited competition to a few other SUVs.

Sienna looks great in my opinion.

Air suspension is an excellent feature to have, especially for towing. As for expensive repairs, that pretty much applies to the whole vehicle, its an expensive piece of engineering and thus expensive to maintain.

I'm personally not a big fan of Gold/white exteriors, but that's based on personal preference.

The turbo diesel is what I would go for, nothing beats the combination of torque and MPG that it provides.

I would recommend reading up on the different common issues to look for before selecting your vehicle(specific to your model year). The forum has a wealth of information regarding these vehicles, please take advantage of that.

Otherwise good luck with your purchase!

I really like the diesel option. My original plan was to find a 2010 with all the options (tech, sound, air) to include TDI... very difficult to find. I'm having more success finding all options (except diesel) in a 2008 model year with a V8. I may have to trade the air suspension for the TDI.

Thanks. I took the advice... I passed on the deal today and will wait for a TDI with air suspension. I'm hoping to have more success with the 2010s after the first of the year.

Rossco I know you are in Washington, but I was browsing dealers the other day, and I am pretty sure I saw a TDI at a dealership in Boston with air suspension. It was not on autotrader. I will see if I can find it again...I don't remember what dealership it was right now.

Hmmm..I swear I saw one yesterday,....now I can't seem to find it...bah..sorry...maybe its gone already or I was seeing things.
