Sunday evening I get the "faulty wheel on board" yellow warning on my MFI. All of the tires looked fine last night when I arrived home and it was late, so I did not check the pressures. This morning on the way to work, I get the "flat tyre" red warning.

Now, the tire is certainly not flat, so does this mean I have dead TPMS sensor?

You might have picked up a nail. Check your pressures with a good gauge. The TPMS can find a leak at as little as two pounds. Sensors should be good until 2010.

Thanks MP. I will give the tire a thorough look over this evening. I find it odd that it went from "faulty wheel" to "Flat tyre" in less than 24 hours and the tire looks fine.

Without a VAG-COM, the only way to know for sure is to check with a pressure gauge and report back.

NC-VW depending on the version of your TPMS control module you will get all sorts or error. But I do recall getting the flat tire message in the MFI a few times when I was having TPMS troubles. So it may very well be a Tires sensor that is on its way the the big spare parts bin in the sky. If you have VAG COM you can check the DTC's and narrow down which one it could possibly be. I had a sensor die on me when the others said they had 72 months of life left then 6 months later I check them again and I got a reading of 54 months now 9 months later I have a reading of 36 months and discovered another malfunctioning one.
