I've had this 2008 3.0 TDI for 20 months and it's been off the road for about 14 of those months. Now at 130xxxk.

Various mechanics have replaced the EGR (twice), water pump, $2000 worth of hoses and fittings, thermostat housing, and probably other bits. The local VW dealer is Lennock motors and even their mechanics don't take their cars there. Just hopeless. They tried to convince me it needed a new head gasket and possibly head without any evidence of head leakage at all.

Right now, it's using 2.5 litres of coolant per 300k city driving and 600k highway. No evidence of steam or residue in the tail pipe, no leakage from the motor. My prayers have not been answered and the car hasn't been crushed in an industrial accident and I've still got 16 months left on the novated lease.

Any ideas?

An update, just in case you're bored with this, I know I am.
It's now losing 2.5 litres per 240k urban and the same for 600k highway driving. Nobody yet has any idea at all
