So, my orange check engine light does not want to stay off. (2007 V8 FSI) It came on for the 1st time a few weeks ago shortly after refueling. My first thought was that the fuel might have caused it, thus I kept driving it in order to burn the fuel and fill up with a higher octane rating at another station. A few days later the light goes off, problem solved I thought.

About a week later the light comes back on and I promptly took it to my local VW dealer, they took a look at it and informed that there was some "recall" (I assume maybe TSB type stuff) work that needed to be performed and that warranty covered it. As for my engine light problem, they checked it out, did not find any out of the ordinary codes or issues and reset the light. Told me to drive it for a couple days and return so they could send the data to VW for analysis...Was driving it and the light came back on, took it back to the dealer, they did their thing, still stated that they could find absolutely nothing wrong, then I was told that since I installed an aftermarket Navigation system it may be causing the error but I've had the Kenwood in my car for over a year now and only recently started having the engine light come on...

Anybody have a clue what may be causing this? Driving me crazy!

Is there way you can post what codes you are getting?
Should be in a Pxxx format.

Will any of your local garage shops do a code read for you?

I'm in the middle of relocating to Belgium from Germany and will be visiting a VW dealer once I get settled. Just found out it's mandatory (even for U.S. military) to have a rear fog light installed...much rather have the factory look than the typical quick fix I've seen.
