Good evening all. I'm hoping someone will be able to help on this one. I have the headlights 7l6941015AM and recently i have been having issues with them. Firstly i got the warning message "afs no function vehicle wallet" come up with the amber light bulb flashing. Although having checked all my bulbs they are all working. But ive noticed when turning the lights on they no longer do the " father son and holy spirit" movement. They only do the up, down and position themselves as a shorter beam. But i am getting the lamps moving side to side when cornering. So they are moving just not how its meant to be.
Ive taken the headlights out, cleaned the connectors etc and put them back, but still the same. The car does need to go in for a 175000 kml service and to have the brakes charged, and these warnings are coming up too. Which i know about. But ive read that it may be these warnings that is causing the problem and to do the reset / clear, which i will get my mechanic too do as he done the diagnostic and it came up with a strange error. Has anyone got any ideas of what may be causing this and if it is these warnings doing it.
Many thanks in advance.

Are you sure? It might be just the cornering light (which is a separate bulb), and not the actual xenon beam moving.

Either way, read the fault codes, those will tell you what's wrong and with which unit. You most likely have a problem either with the level sensor(s) or with the leveling mechanism itself, and the AFS is not actually calibrating itself, just entering the lowest pointing position, as a fail-safe.

Hi Gnits, Sorry for the delay in replying to your answer, but many thanks... so Ive taken it to the local VW garage who have ran a full diagnostics on the lights, and they are saying the sensor on my right light isnt working, and this is the sensor that controls both lights. They are telling me that the sensor is fabricated inside the light and its not a separate unit that I can order. They are saying I have to buy a whole new light at over 1000 Euro's... is this sound right, or are they trying it on to get me to buy the whole light for extra € € € ..... Many thanks

Well, I can't say anything about whether their diagnosis is right, and what parts you need to replace. If you need to replace the headlight, then yes, that costs a small fortune new. But maybe you can get some cheaper from a salvage yard. You can also try and disassemble the headlight and see for yourself whether you can repair it. The headlight is not designed so that you can take it apart easily, but it's doable - and if you would replace it anyway, then it might be worth a try. Or maybe look for a headlight specialist who can possibly do that for you.
