I just ordered 4 complete air shocks for my Touareg from Aerosus in Germany, After a complicated international order process I think everything is resolved. I will document the unboxing and review the shocks after instillation.

If you don't know what I am talking about here is a link to the website, note clear your cookies before revisiting as the prices rise every time you revisit.

Just ordered a residual pressure valve from miessler. Very fast shipping. Did not come yet but should be here in a couple of days. Bought from ebay.de and found that site afterwards. Would have been cheaper to buy straight from miessler. Dont know who makes bags for miessler but looks like aerosus parts are same as ones found in aliexpress. That thought doesn't make them bad.

Received an Email form Aerosus about my order today, They only have 3 of the 4 air shocks in stock. They are missing the left front and "do not know" when they will have it in stock again. How convenient I though to myself, They took my money but now hey don't have the product. I called and asked them to speak to whoever manufactures the shock for them and get an ETA, they first said that is not possible. I said yes it is, pick up the phone and call them, then I was told the issue would be escalated and I should expect to hear back in 2-3 days. I will be calling every day and asking the same question, "do you have an ETA for my complete order?"

Works for me.

Well unfortunately i have decided to cancel my order with Aerosus due to parts availability, I will be ponying up the cash for 4 OEM air shocks, I get them at near dealership cost which is still over double what Aerosus is selling them for.

Why not Arnott??

EDIT: Never mind. Seems like they only have the front spring in stock....

JC Whipme still has a set of 4 listed:

Good luck....

That's only half the issue I am trying to resolve, my Touareg has 155k miles, the shock absorbers have reached near the end of service life, replacing only the air bags is not a good option in my opinion. Aerosus sells the whole air shock, they just don't have them in stock now. I emailed rebuild master tech and found they do not rebuild or replace the shock, they only test them. With 4 Arnott air springs and 4 new VW electronic dampening shocks the cost is near a wash against my cost for 4 new VW complete air shocks. Its expensive but you must remember the V10 TDI Touareg is a high end luxury car thus costs more for repairs.

hight dropped

Hi there, I have a 2004 V10. I heard a bang and the front dropped in hight. A "stop running gear" fault came up on dash. Front of car is very low. Took wheel off and had a look. Bottom rubber seal has a big hole in it. Is this the fault? Here in NZ, VW wanted about $1000 each for the struts. Found plenty out of China for around $300US each (about $500 NZ ) Car has done 200,000 Km's
Do I get the new struts and has anyone tried the China option? Do these faults show on a Vag computer. Was thinking of getting one anyway. Any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks Daryl

Can you post a photo, it sounds like an airbag blew out and nothing is wrong with the shock absorber. With the mileage you have I would recommend replacement of both front air shocks, if you are just trying to limp along you can try what many others have suggested and replace the air spring (air bag) with an Arnott replacement found here:

H,mmm.

I bought two front shocks from VW USA.
says Sachs and Made in Germany on the sticker.....

I think the reason they are called a shock is cause that's what happens when they tell you the price..

I am at some stage going to buy a set of rear shocks (complete) from China, just to see how they go.

We have gotten a lot of chineese parts that are counterfeit in the USA, they look nearly identical including the stickers and the customers are always upset they have to buy a factory replacement. For all to know VWAG has very little ties to any manufacturer in China, in all my years of replacing parts as a Tech at a VW dealer the only made in China sticker I found was on the drivers gear (clothing line)

Decided to buy whole assembly's from china. They arrived very quickly. look the part. Have replaced the passages side, very easy.(right hand drive) Went to do the drivers side. Bolt under brake reservoir has got me. Will do some searching.
I dismantled the blown side. All it was is a $10 O ring. Could have replaced that and siliconed the blow out on the dust cover. Gas shock seems to be doing its thing. But at 200,000 kms some thing won't be right.
Hopefully find out how to get this last bolt.

You don't need to pull anything apart.
I got mine out with a 3/8" extension and uni joint. Plus a small torch and a little mirror to see what goes on down there.
after I wasted about 10mins to figure out that a 1/2" drive wouldn't fit, it took a couple of minutes and is a bit fiddly.
put it back in the same way and torques up ok.

Does anyone know if Aerosus manufacturer their parts in Germany, as they claim, or do they buy them from China?
I once bought from them the air compressor (for my allroad) - it was a chinese one. Could have saved some $ and bought on Aliexpress.

Seems like its not unlikely they are just reselling the chinese stuff.

I put front airsprings from aliexpress in my allroad too - they worked just fine.
