Today was an excellent day. Along with a thorough detailing, my ABT parts arrived from Germany via Vivid Racing. I’ll be be slowly updating this thread since I’m deploying next month but here are pics of the spoiler on the Touareg.

The fit is 100% perfect as you’d expect from ABT. I’m trying to get it painted next week after Christmas.

Check this thread. He added a hidden winch behind the bumper and that Treg is glorious.

Thanks for the info. I'm glad you got your hands on the kit before anybody else did! I've been looking for one the last few months and the only options were either through Alex Gee or generic ones off Ebay.

I installed Method Race trail wheels (17x7.5) with Toyo Open Country this past weekend and would love to get that lift in my ride as well.

Oh and since this is such an awesome thread, I'll drop this gem: Panamera wheels bolt right up to our Touaregs...even STAGGERED setups. Just add the appropriate taller tires.

I'm currently running staggered 19x9 front and 19x10 rear Panamera Turbo wheels on my 2012 Touareg now. No need for spacers. No issues. No rubbing. No fender-rolling.

Lots of complements and thumbs-ups at the dealership when I take it in for service.

Also, about my roof rack:

Rails: Whispbar (Whispbar was bought by Yakima a few years ago). I bought them from a member here on ClubTouareg. Very low.
Box: Thule Motion XT Alpine.
Height: 6'5" using stock spring suspension

I can get in and out of my home, work, and many parking deck garages with it, no problem.
Is that rack quiet? I have a Audi Q7 basket that I used on my CC, I would line to start using it again.

The calculation was based off of stock 18s.

GPS speed is not very precise. It doesn't take into consideration any curves you've traveled between readings. The GPS computer will always assume that you made a straight line from point A to point B where it took readings. There could be a curve between points A and B and you traveled that in 10s and the app calculates that you were traveling 85MPH in a straight line (A to B). When actually, the road was curved and you went 2MPH faster to get from A to B.

I've done a lot of research in this area and even have a couple of apps in the iOS app store for the cycling community (that are heavy with arithmetic calculations) where this comes up a lot: GPS speedometers vs wired speedometers with magnets on the wheel. The latter is infinitely more accurate...but not as cool as GPS.

Here is how the Whispbar system looks. It sits damn-near flush with the side rails. This can be problematic if the "claws" of your box reach down too far.

Looks like Yakima took the Whispbar tech they bought and rebranded it as "RailBar"

The Yakima RailBar is the premium crossbar choice for vehicles with factory equipped raised siderails. This crossbar has no bar overhang, so your vehicle will have a clean, modern aesthetic, looking like it came from the factory with the RailBars already installed. The sleek low-profile shape of the crossbar and its seamless integration to your vehicle's siderails maximizes strength, while minimizing drag and reducing noise levels to nearly zero. RailBars are sold as individual bars, not in pairs.
Oh, but if you have a sunroof, you cannot use either of these systems as they will prevent the rear tilt of the glass from going up to it's full extension. So, if you have a sunroof, I'd stick with stock height crossbars...or don't tilt the sunroof :D

Ah ok, I have a pano and use it often. The box doesn’t have “clamps”, it uses the slot on top of the cross bar like the Thule system.

I just want to report to @texlee that there is no way to update the speedo to accommodate taller tires that I'm aware of for our trucks like I thought there was. It's possible on other VWs, but not these. In the VAGCOM world, you'd look to adjust the "distance impulse number".

I was mistaken.

I did read in another thread that our speedos over-report our speeds from the factory as reported in another thread:

Relevant quotes:

I have oversized tires on mine that actually puts the speedo more or less dead on, but now throws the odometer off by 5%. So I am actually putting less miles on my Treg with the larger tires. :) When I figure out mpg I have to add the 5% that it is off to get my true mileage.
No, the miles are off by 5%. The speedos are off from the factory and some say on purpose. They read faster then what you are actually going. If you run the stock size tires the miles are right since it is calibrated to the stocks size. I am actually slowing the odometer down with the oversized tires.
All European speedometers, regardless of car manufacturer, are required by law to over-read speed by up to a maximum of 10%.

They are not allowed to under read speed by any percentage.

I think we've established that it is not possible to adjust the speedo with VAGcom.

We've also established that the VW computer is overly optimistic by up to 15% on mpg as, indeed, they all are since manufacturers think we are too stupid or too lazy to double check for ourselves by doing a brim full tank to brim full tank check and since the laboratory methodologies used for the fuel consumption tests the makers then advertise for their cars when new are very badly flawed and are over optimistic by up to 30%.

The one thing that is standard - regardless of whether you have 17/18/19 inch wheels - is that the overall wheel and tyre diameter supplied by VW when the car was new will be 29.0 inches.

Ok here’s an update, just landed in the US so excuse the dirt. I’ll have proper photos after I detail the car and mock up the fender flares. I think I’d need a 5mm spacer in the rear to bring the wheel to the fender, the fronts are perfect for a daily driver. I’ll only be in the US for a month so I’m not sure if I’ll be getting the front brakes done before then.

I don't have a build thread but I may add a few pictures and a few additions to the dynaudio subwoofer thread on here. I am still working on the project, I had some hiccups along the way but thats always the way it is. When are you getting your flares painted?
The flares were left at the body shop last Friday so hopefully next week. I’d love to see your build.

Hey @TheChunknorris I don’t want to rain on your parade but I’m looking for some fender flares too over different forums so I don’t have to pay dealer prices ($900) and I came over some threads talking about how the flares come unglued and come off.

A few people with T3s had them and came unglued all the time and would fall. So when you get them attached make sure you talk to the shop to see how they can be properly secured with Extra 3m tape or something similar. It would suck for them to fall after all this hard work

The correct 3M tape, when properly applied (read correct temps, prepped and cleaned surfaces, correct take for the materials being bonded, etc.) is strong "like bull". I've used it on highway tractors to hold SS panels\parts in past roles, and whenever I've had to remove any of these parts that were properly installed, you had to wrestle the crap out of them to get them off, even when using a heat gun. Anything that just falls off is improperly installed and\or they are using the incorrect type of tape.

The shop is done painting the flares and I’m dropping off my Treg on Wednesday for the install. The flares that I have didn’t have any texture and were never painted by the previous owner before installing on his vehicle, I lucked out because the prep was a little easier.

Yea I figured a good shop and strong 3m should work because thousands of customs have trim pieces applied like that. I remember my Mazda3 hatch that i had 10 years ago had these moldings on the side and when I did a trim delete it took me 2 hours with a heat gun to remove and clean. But yea can’t wait to see how they look.
