Hi all,

My wife was running errands in her 2004 V6 last weekend. In between short trips the A/C went from working perfectly (very cold) to not at all (blowing outside temp air). It's not the end of the world here in Seattle :D but I need to get it going again.

Because it was so sudden, I am guess it's electrical. I borrowed a Vag-Com and have attached the log.

Any thoughts? I noticed lots of people seem to be having similar issues, but not with these codes. Specifically - this one seems like a good suspect:

01336 - Data Bus for Comfort System
004 - No Signal/Communication - Intermittent

Thanks for your help!

Great googly-moogley! Hopefully it's easier/cheaper than that.

I'm starting to wonder if the Air Quality Sensor could be giving me the trouble. I've read in other posts that it has the ability to limit some functions of the HVAC system.

01592 - Air Quality Sensor (G238)
010 - Open or Short to Plus

I wonder if there's a wiring issue, or if I just need to replace the sensor itself.

Two things

One, un the scan again using the correct platform selected in VAGCOM, use platform 7L.
Two, one all of the codes and faults are captured, use VAGCOM to clear all faults. Test the AC and check again for errors.

Thanks aircooled. I scanned again using 7L which gave me only this:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Address 08: Auto HVAC Labels: None
Part No: 7L6 907 040 D
Component: CLIMAtronic R/L X 2714
Coding: 0001030
Shop #: WSC 31414 000 00000
VCID: 3162CDC7D141

1 Fault Found:
01592 - Air Quality Sensor (G238)
010 - Open or Short to Plus

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I cleared the codes and it popped right back up. Do you think this could be my culprit? I'll swap the sensor regardless I guess. Full log is attached.

Thanks for your help.

Ac failure just stops working

Same thing happened to my wides car , brought it to vw dealer and they reset computer , lasted 4 days . Brought it back for another reset. Lasted two days , the so called experts have no clue . Code comes back with bogas temp alarms or system might have leak . Lost faith in dealer , I'm a electronic technician by trade , I believe I have a bad sensor . I would like to connect to computer myself , can this be done easily? I read a product bulletin that there's a sensor under the passengers floorboard that could be causing the problem. Any help would be appreciated because I don't have faith in the vw service shop . Thanks Steve

Just a bit of an update. I called various VW places looking for the Air Quality Sensor. The going rate is about $80 for part 7L0907643A. I called a Porsche dealer and they could get the same part number for about $40, although they called it a temp sensor of some type. I'll go by the part numbers for now. :)

Bummer. I did go through all the fuses marked AC and swapped them out just in case. I'll replace the sensor anyway, since it needs to be done.

Does anyone know which measuring blocks I should be looking at for this? I like to be as informed as possible when heading to the mechanic.

Cheers!

Error 00898

Hi to all. I would like to ask if anyone has and is willing to share a wiring diagram for the HVAC electrical system for a touareg with a V10 engine. I extracted this 00898 code (Control Circuit, AC Compressor Open or Short to Ground) using VAG-COM and I would like to have a look at the diagram to be able to trace out this problem. Another problem that came up after a second scan is 00353 (Return Function Message from Fresh Air Blower Regulator - Lower Limit - Intermittent). The wiring diagram will really help me out with this.

I just purchased this part (PN 7l0907643a) since I have this code and I have no clue where it goes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Dealer claims it is under the cowl on the passenger side. I did not see it there.

Thanks in advance.
